I switched to e-cigs from cigarettes 6 months ago. I am currently using Joye/BOGE (?) 510 batteries with cartomizers and liquids from some different sites. Aside from the labor of refilling the cartos, its very workable.

I am currently purchasing most of my supplies online. I am, however, curious if anyone knows if empty cartomizers can be purchased retail somewhere in Missouri or Kansas, USA.

I am also interested in trying a joy eGo 1100 with a clearomizer.

Supplier:

I can't suggest local retailers unless you wanna provide a more specified location.
Try: Buy Electronic Cigarettes Locally - Where To Buy E-Cigarettes

Perhaps you have more money than patience, but imo online is the way to go atm. Odds are its going to cost you more money in gas and time to get there than its worth. Most local supplies available to me are garbage and made only to sell. Unless its a well known supplier like Totallywicked, Madvapes near you with a good supply.

Supplies:

Props for kicking habit, but 510 batteries are a bad vaping experience! I've been vaping for 8 years. I started with the standard 510 as well. I would highly suggest a new device. 2 $30, Ego Twist 1000 mah's is nice choice. Make sure to get a Ego fast charger as well.

As for cartomizers, go with the standard 510 2 ohm Boge cartos as a base. Get a nice supply of those, than experiment with others (Clearomizers). I've tried them all, personally I don't like them. Fun, something different but they're unreliable and cheaply made for the most part. Anything labelled CE and or of the same build should probably be avoided.

Good luck,

First off, WELCOME TO ECF!!

So glad to hear you are enjoying vaping and found a device that works for you. If you would like to try a very basic eGo starter kit, this one will get you the charger and the clearo at a good price, then you could opt to choose another battery like the eGo Twist. That way, you will have one to use while the other is charging. It will also introduce you to something other than a carto, with more of a fill and go rather than refill frequently type thing. Who knows? You may find you are ready for something new you hadn't thought of:

All for $20, but only for newbies:
Mini Starter Kit - 650mah - Black - DiscountVapers.com
Ths custom kit consists of:

1. (1) eGo 650 mAh battery
2. (1) CE4+ V2 Clearomizers with Long Wicks
3. (1) Charging cable for eGo battery
4. (1) gift Tin with padded pockets

and the Juice:

A one time free 10ml sample bottle of juice of your choice - with free shipping from VapeDudes.com. They give out 15 a day, counter gets reset at 12 midnight Texas time every day (coupon code fbfree).

Sorry, that comment wasn't intended for your information.
Oh, LOL, its hard sometimes to know. I had to wait 3 days going in to try to get that free 10 ml, and then it took them 4 days to ship it, and another 3 to get to me. But I got it! I think it was about 2 am PST when I finally was successful, but I was determined! LOL

Thanks for all the information and the very warm welcome from everyone.

I've also been very interested in the discussions available on e-cigarette forum about Vaping's effect on the lungs (whether it actually has a positive "post-smoking effect" - maybe even cleaning the lungs). I can state that, of the 3 times I've quit smoking in the last 20 years, in every instance I've gotten a respiratory infection (cold/flu) within 2-4 months after quitting. Of course, in 1994 and 1996, there were no e-cigarettes available, so quitting was that much harder. And yes, I went back to smoking after about 6 months in each instance of quitting.

After ceasing my use of tobacco in March of 2012, I did get a bit of a respiratory ailment in May, which lasted a few days, but wasn't nearly as violent as the 1994 and 1996 episodes. I've now been using e-cigs for 6 months exactly. Still holding with no desire to return to tobacco cigarettes. And yes, my smoker's cough disappeared and has not returned, even with heavy usage of e-cigs. (I really like a 60PG/40VG mix)

I am hoping (perhaps naively) that research and science proceeds forward honestly on e-cigarette usage and health.

Virgin Vapor has Joye Ego Twists on sale this week for a very good price, including the 1000 mAh version. They also have the wall adapter and USB charger you will need as well as the cones needed to cover the threads when using the Twist with a Vivi Nova.

If you want more power there is always the Provari at a cost of big size and price.
