Hey guys,

So I've been smoking cigarettes since I was 16. I've been a pack a day smoker for about the past 4-5 years. I recently made the switch to e-cigs just because I live in New York and if anyone is familiar with the state or the city than they'll tell you cigarettes are not cheap. So far I like it, I ordered a starterkit from V2 at the recommendation of a friend. I wasn't crazy about some of their flavors and they actually screwed up my order but the customer service people were very friendly and credited my account.

It's funny that I switched to e-cigs to save money because I was buying cartons on an Indian reservation for about $35 bucks and figure I smoked one a week or a little longer. I find that buying prefilled cartomizers ends up costing me roughly the same so I'd like to look into filling my own? Just wondering if anyone knew of a good guide on how to get started.

Hi and welcome to ECF. Congrats. After 5 posts wait 1 hr for the ECF servers to reset and you can post here:
DIY E-Liquid
DIY isn't really that hard and the savings are immense...more loot for other goodies :D

I hear ya...I was also buying Rez tobacco for about $12.00 a carton so really no cost savings for me but just the fact I quit smoking is priceless.
Happy vaping.

Welcome to ECF glad you found us. I'm fairly new myself and still learning SO much! You will find any and all info here that you need! I just switched to an ego 1100 this last weekend and the vaping experience took on a whole new dimension. I order a 6 flavor sample pack of juice that should arrive tomorrow and can hardly wait.

Congrats on the wise decision and happy vaping!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Another random question. If I smoked a ton of cigs in a short period of time or even more than my usual amount over 24 hours or a few days, my throat would be killing me. Sometimes I notice my e-cig kinda hurts my throat even if I use it less than I would normal cigarettes. Any info on that? It's a different kind of irritation/pain than normal cigs. Kind of hard to describe but does anyone know what I'm talking about? haha

As posted vaping is dehydrating and can ruin the vape experience. I drink 1 1/2 liters per day. Also many prefilled cartos are PG based and PG can be an irritant. PG also enhances TH. If you're chain vaping it could be your nic level is not high enuff. Also PG coats the mouth and throat areas- I rinse/ gargle once per day with fresh squeezed lemon and water- mouthwash would be ok too.
Cheers.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Im a relative newbie myself here... been stalking the forums for a while but finaly registered and this is my actual first post lol...
Anyway Im going through the same thing, I dont have the extra money floating around atm to spend on carto's trying to find a flavor that I like enough to get me off of analogs... once I find a flavor thats tolerable enough I know getting the liquid and refilling will save me a ton and free up enough to explore other flavors.
I started with 24mg cig2o that a coworker gave me, but truth be told it was like inhaling an old gym sock, I couldnt see spending more on something that bad, so it got tossed in a drawer for a few months...
I still really wanted to get off analogs but was kinda bummed out by my introduction to ecigs but after some brief reading I saw that the nic content could have a strong impact on taste and a new smoke shop opened up locally that sold the cig2o carts in 18mg so i figured Id give it another shot...
Well, the lower nic content made it much more bearable, but still pretty nasty. At least at that point though, I knew there could be some hope.
My next lesson came as I stopped at gas station to pick up a pack of analogs and sitting on the counter was a display for NJoys... lets just say that they were so bad it left me craving the original cig2os...
I went for a while cutting back on analogs and filling in the gap with the cig2os but again it wasnt getting me where I wanted to be, which is off analogs completely.
A few weeks later and much wiser thanks to this forum, I saved up and based off of the good reviews, bought one of the volt starter kits with cowboy carts... Honestly the flavor didnt really meet my expectation, but was leaps and bounds over c2o... and the volt battery is absolutley great!!! I dont know if its a different voltage or what, but even the cig2o carts seemed to taste a little better and had more vapor using the volt battery.
At this point if I really really commited myself, I could probably drop analogs and go with the cowboy/volt, but Im hoping to find a flavor I will enjoy, not just get me by... thats one of the reasons Im here and still trying to decide what to do next. I know once I have 5 posts I can get a freebie for posting a pic with my volt smokeless images subforum here, just not sure if I should go with a sampler pack of cartos or the bottle of cowboy... I really shouldve went with the sampler pack when I ordered the kit originally but would just hate find out that I dont like some of them and I know I would get a lot more use/value out of the cowboy liquid...
Anyways, sorry to ramble on with my dilema, but I do think the best thing to do gettings started would be to just get a few sampler cartos until you find one you like and then buy the liquids of what you like and refill the carts.
Good luck to you!

Hi and welcome to ECF. Congrats on your accomplishments and sticking to the task.
Smokeless Image readily admits their juices are not the best. They choose to focus on the hardware. Keep an eye on this thread- some amazing deals on juice:

I'm definitely interested in a higher volt battery thing. Thing is, I already have money invested in the v2/k808 that I have now so I'm not sure if theres ones available for that? I'll have to check unless anyone knows.

and vapor eyes er, thanks for your post it was really helpful. I enjoy the v2 sahara blend quite a bit but am looking at other ones that I'll probably like more. I haven't ventured past anything outside of what v2 sells for fear of buying something that won't fit or work with my battery. Hopefully I learn a bit more about the juices and the process of filling my own cartos so I can get a higher nicotine level, as I'm vaping 2 cartos a day and taking double the amount of hits just because
I can't seem to get my fix.
