Hey Reonauts,
Today I received my first Reo. Naturally I have spent the last 10 days eagerly watching the mail tracking. Got a black mini and an RM4. See pics below.
Some thoughts and questions:
- building is tricky with the smaller size. My first one is 0.68. Vapour production is huge and this thing hits hard.
- I am getting a bit of a weird taste. I admit I was too excited to clean the Reo or the atty. could this be it?
- working it is fairly daunting at first. But I am sure that gets easier as I go
- how often do you guys change wicks?
- I saw it recommended to ensure air holes are generally up/away from me. However when screwing it in, the coils are set to where they are - which means the air holes have to be where the coils are. Mine line up at 12 and 6, so I can hold it side style, but is there a way to ensure coils are more at 3 and 9.
- I am going on a business trip later this week. Carry on only. Any concerns bringing my Reo?

Anyway. Love the size of the mini. Nice and stealth and I don't have to commit to 6 ml of a juice. Look fwd to learning how far I can push it for no leaking.

Thanks to you all!

Nice looking unit, Slooooters :toast:

Always good to see a fellow canuck get into the mix.

A few thoughts on your questions...

* You should prolly wash the atty to remove any residual machine oil and other gunk that might be on it.
* You can use an o-ring under the atty (in the catch cup) to provide a spongy cushion that will let you position your atty more exactly to get the air holes in the right places.
* Travelling on an airplane is entirely doable (just did it myself this past weekend) - battery in the device, reo juice bottle empty or placed in liquids baggie, atty removed, extra batteries in a case (not loose), any other juice bottles in liquids baggie. I've only ever had security questions once and they were only concerned that the device did not produce flames.
* Wick changing depends on few things - type of material used, type of juice, frequency of vaping, just to name a few. If using cotton, I generally change it out every 2-3 days (you'll prolly hear others' take on that), whereas something like READYxWICK lasts months.

Have fun with it, and welcome to the 'Ville.

Hey Reonauts,

Welcome, and congrats on the Mini.

Some thoughts and questions:

Building is quite easy once you've done it a couple of times, even on the smaller RM2. I have an Atomic (what the RM4 is modded from) and currently have a dual coil build in it at .58 ohms. With the AFC you can dial them in for whatever VTF your build allows in them with whatever ohm and joose your running.

- I am getting a bit of a weird taste. I admit I was too excited to clean the Reo or the atty. could this be it?

Several things it could be. But it's not hard at all to clean it with the coil installed to eliminate that.

- working it is fairly daunting at first. But I am sure that gets easier as I go

The learning curve of squonking is short, so you'll get the hang of it.

- how often do you guys change wicks?

Way too many variables for a simple answer (wick, coil, ohms, juice, how you draw/vape, etc). But it only takes a a few seconds to open it up and visually check the wick anytime you want to, and not that much longer to rewick.

As said, different o-ring sizes change the position of the air hole some... as can how much you tighten it into the 510. But I think some folks make a bigger deal about it than it really is. I don't worry about where mine end up, in part because I might fire it with either hand, a thumb or a finger depending on how I pick it up.

- I am going on a business trip later this week. Carry on only. Any concerns bringing my Reo?

I haven't flown commercial since I started vaping, but others comments I've seen suggest there shouldn't be.

You can watch the air hole for signs of juice when you squonk, or pull the drip tip and watch down inside the the atty.

Thanks to you all!

I boil every atty I buy with a little dish soap in water for a few minutes with the terminal post screws removed.

Then I rinse it really good in a stream of cold water from the faucet.

I also wash my mods and now prep the contacts and batteries with deoxit before using.

Welcome and congrats.

Welcome and congrats! Great choice of Reo. It looks like a silver vein from the pictures. If you don't know already, that color and copper vein will tarnish and darken to almost black over time. If you want to keep it looking like it does now, you'll have to put a coat or 4 of spray lacquer on it to preserve its glimmer. Just be sure to tape catch cup, hose nipple and battery spring and vasoline the fire button locking area, magnets, screw and door slide channel. I just did my silver vein grand today. I bought my mini on the classies, it's a copper vein but looks black unless it's in the sun. I love it either way, but had I bought it new, it woulda been coated right away. If you haven't tried readyXwick, it's awesome! Lasts much, much longer than cotton. I swap wicks when I'm not getting the right flavor. Regular organic cotton balls is daily. KGD cotton is 3-5 days and not sure about ready wick but already a week into it and no issues. I got the grand setup dual coils with KGD cotton and the mini setup with readyXwick. Thnx.
It is indeed a silver vein. Do you need to tape and Vaseline all that stuff inside? Don't you just lacquer the outside?

Depends on what you want to darken and what you want to preserve. Overspray is inevitable so at least tape anything juice or battery related or anything you want to still move after the coating is done. The more prep work done before tho, the happier you'll be with the job afterwords.
