First let me say, I was not sure where I should post this, but in looking I apologize if I missed the right forum for this but I wanted to pass on something that my wife told me today that totally blew me away.

Today my wife sat down and talked with me, amongst other normal day to day to thing to talk about she remarked that, let me put it in her words. "Hun, I have noticed something as of late about you. I know you have PTSD while you were in the Military, I have noticed since you started using your E-cig, you have been a lot calmer and have had less episodes of your PTSD flaring up, thank you for switching to it."

Yes, well, ahem, typos happen. ;)

I was in a hurry yesterday when I replied but saw your post and wanted to reply because my husband also has PTSD and I know how hard that can be. He suffered for many years before the problem was properly acknowledged and he finally got some help starting in 2010. So I really do know how hard it is to live through it for you, your wife and the whole family. Anything that can help aleviate the symptoms and helps you cope is fantastic in my book! So keep on vapin' man! :)

Good for you! Thank you for sharing that with us.

The Zen of vaping. I enjoy the entire ritual. You might find me dripping into an atomizer, rebuilding a coil, learning to blow smoke rings, etc. It's all rather relaxing and something I enjoy. There's also the breathing. My regular breathing is rather shallow compared to what goes on when I'm vaping. Those deep breaths are good for a person.

Your situation might be entirely different, but it's great to hear vaping has made such a difference in your life. Once again, good for you!

Vaping is a lot more calming experience for me. I don't have to go to the store and buy a pack. If I'm out of juice, I can always go through my stash and find something to get me by. The postman brings me what I need.

I don't have to keep up with a lighter or matches, just a battery charge here and there. Vapor doesn't get in my eyes when I'm working. I don't smell like an ashtray. My fingers are nice and flesh colored.

My car smells good and my house is smelling fresher. The lower amount of nic that I get is calming, even though it's not as intense as tobacco. If my vape gets old and stale, I can change to a new flavor. One fill up and I'm good for most of the day with a Protank.

Congrats, Goshawk13. Sounds like vaping is agreeing with you. And, thank you for your service.

We will all live longer vaping than we would have if we continued to smoke.

Thank you all for the support, it is glad to see a community like this that can pull together and help newbies. To see a community like this come together is something I am glad I can I belong to, by helping in small way with friends that smoke and introducing them to vaping I feel like I am helping them more and more as they ask questions or try my PV, soon I will be graduating to a VV, so can not wait!

This morning I went to Somkecignals, a local store in New Orleans, though I am from Slidell, I was happy to drive the 45 mins to get there. When I got there the guys there helped me extensively, answering questions and helping me get some new juice. The funny thing was when my wife and I walked out she looked at me and smiled saying, "I am glad to see you getting more involved with vaping and the community, but is this going to be like all your other hobbies, your warhammer 40k, legos, figures, and everyother hobby you have and are you going to have a e-cig in every room?" I could not help but laugh and rely with, "Maybe!" I am glad she is supportive of this.

You'll find many threads where new vapers talk about the money they are spending trying every new vaping device that rolls out. We are all on a search for the ultimate vape. The key to minimizing that expenditure is being a member of ECF where you can read all the reviews and discussions on the new stuff. Sometimes, you realize that you wouldn't like this one or that one and money is saved. But, there's always one that convinces you to break out the checkbook.

Then, there's the available budget. I smoked 2 packs a day times today's price of $4.50. That's $270 a month at the per pack price and $180 a month at the $30 carton price ( if you catch them on sale). There's plenty of money to be spent and there's still no sign of long term physical damage from vaping compared to tobacco. There's your hobby funding, right there. :)

Chances are that you can support your vaping habit quite well and still save big money over smoking. I spend about $50-$60 a month on juices and cartos and tank heads. The rest I spend taking my wife out to eat.

That's wonderful news. Was just thinking today how the medical community is totally missing the boat with all this vaping thing - they could use it to deliver legal drugs into the bloodstream, calm anxiety, panic attacks, etc. etc. etc. Instead they just want to find something bad about it. Whatever.

To the best of my knowledge ecigs are an adaption of existing medical technology..

To the best of my knowledge ecigs are an adaption of existing medical technology..

The first battery operated cigarette was invented by Herbert A. Gilbert in 1963 and patented in 1965.

I think the Nicorette inhaler shares the technology with ecigs in that it used an atomized cartridge, but the worldwide patents for the modern ecig are held by Ruyan, a Chinese company with over 40 patents for ecig tech.
