OK, so i stared vaping thanksgiving weekend and have not turned back. Started with a Ego C Twist and a Kanger Tech. 1 week in bought a Sid mod and a protank 2. everything was going good until the protank started flooding. i tried different things recommended on the forums but nothing worked. (this post is not about how to fix it so dont bother). So now im taking the advice of one post and throwing the Protank in the trash. I need some ideas on where to go from here. I would like a decent set up for my sid mod. i also just order a Nemesis Mod and would like to start venturing into mechanical mods and builds.

looking for suggestions for tanks and so forth. thanks.

I got a youde igo-w last week, and it's all I've used really. Along with it came a rsst. I build a ugly looking coil on it, the vape reflected the poor coil, and haven't bothered to fix it yet. I came from evods, t2, and an iclear30. My evods didn't leak really, the iclear 30 leaked out the bottom way too much, and the t2 I don't think ever leaked. Some of my evod bases have 3/4 the threading of others so that really turned me off to them as they wouldn't fire on some of my setups. But now I'm on to a mech so it's 510 all the way :D

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but rda's and genesis style tanks can't really flood if there isn't a hole for the juice to go down into the 510 connection, right? I mean they can have too much juice in the case of a dripper, or insufficient wicking on a genesis, but that can be easily fixed.

Plus, you get to build your own coils. That may not be as awesome for you or someone else as it is for me and a great number of others. I love tinkering with my ecigs. It's a new hobby that I didn't have before.

Kayfun is unbelievably good, I own one (Tobeco KFL clone), but I'd hold onto the Protanks. I have several RDAs, and RBAs, but I still have at least one Protank in daily rotation. If you're willing to rebuild a Kayfun, then you can rebuild your Protank heads. Cotton wick for the win. I rebuild mine with 30 or 28 gauge kanthal, and they kick some serious @$$.

Besides, even if you end up not using the Protanks, it's always good to have backups lying around.

Edit: I almost always have a Protank on my Nemesis clone. The airflow to the 510 is unbeatable, which the Protank needs to perform at its best.

I agree with you about rebuilding the pro-tank heads its a great way to learn building coils before you spring on a rda. I used to rebuild mine with 5 wraps 30 gauge something like 1.8 or 1.6 something like that, now I don't rebuild them cause of the RDAs I own. IGO L, Trident, Nimbus

Ya know it's funny, I don't like the KayFun, don't like the igo's either, and I can't stand the gennies.
So don't be surprised if you have to find the RBA/RDA that you like too. The good news is that there are plenty of choices. So if you don't like one, try another that is a little different.
Might also note that the coil & wick that YOU build is more iportant than which RBA you put it in.

My suggestion would be to cruise the online shops and see if you can find an inexpensive RDA. Something like an IGO-W, you don't have to build dual coils on it, but the holes in the post to thread wire through are much easier to use than having to trap wires under screw heads, and remember to buy plenty of wire (temco is great for that). After that just watch plenty of videos and tinker a bit! It takes a little while and you will go through a lot of wick and wire trying to get a decent coil going, but it is most definitely worth it and you'll be happy you did. As far as wick goes, organic cotton has a huge following on these forums, it gives great flavor, is extremely easy to work with, and it's cheap to boot. Micro coils with cotton wick is my preferred setup, and it's the best vape I've found to date. Just be sure you read up on battery safety, own and learn how to use a multimeter, and always double check your coils for shorts and the proper resistance before attempting to fire them on any mod!
