I have a Protank 3, I'm using an ego twist right now. VV 3.2-4.8 I get lots of flavor & decent draws, but have to take really long draws 6-10 secs on 4.8 to get a fair cloud. Nothing large but decent. Same twist with Protank 2 I got really good clouds with a shorter draw. The difference I'm guessing is Protank 2 single coil, Protank 3 dual coil.
My question is is there a mod / battery I can get that will allow me to use the pt3 & get better draws/clouds? I've been suggested a vamo & a sid. When I asked at my local b&m he said not on a pt3 just throw it away & buy something else, a rebuildable or go with a much larger mod/battery. I like the pt3 to an extent but also want more. If you were me what would you get?

have you tried rebuilding your protank heads? Cotton and stainless are both far superior wick materials to the silica that comes in most commercial atomizers.

The Vamo and Sid are both good cheap mods, but for another $10 you can get a zmax, which is much more rugged. Many people prefer the provari, but I don't find it to be worth the price difference. YMMV. I haven't tried a DNA20, but I want one.
Any of these will offer you more power, which can potentially make bigger clouds. However, if you can crank your ego twist up to the point where you get a burnt taste, you are already reaching the limits of your protanks and a more powerful mod will not help.

Then there is always rebuildables and mechanical mods. But that's a rabbit hole you want to know a lot about before you jump in

You could buy a basic mechanical mod and either coil your own Protanks to 1ohm or less, or buy a rebuildable.
The "battery" part doesn't need to be expensive.

I have a SID and Vamo, but I don't go above 9-10 watts on these. Nor will they allow low ohm atomizers.

I vaped at 14 watts the other day on a $20 KTS and $15 Protank. It was fun, but not my thing.

It's a basic stuff, but since it hasn't been mentioned, I will add it to the thread.
ProTank atomizers comes in various resistance level. Amount of voltage to crank up will heavily depended on the resistance level. Try using lower Ohms atomizer refill on your PT3. PT3 will take both single and dual coil atomizer. Hence, if you stick your single coil from PT2 into PT3, you should be getting exact same result. I have PT I/II/III and interchange the single coils all the time.
Dual coil should be making bigger cloud. Just need to get a right setting.

As for rebuilding the atty. My primary reason for using PT is the simplicity. If you are willing to do some coil work, there are RDAs that are much simpler to rebuild and you would get much better vaping experience.

Using dual coils on an eGo is not really ideal. To power a 1.5 Ohm dual coil tank - you are technically powering two 3 Ohm coils that work parallel. EGo doesnt really have the high drain capacity to do this well. Switching to the PT2 head that is single coil will drastically increase your vaping experience.

You will also drain your batteries twice as fast and run the risk of tanking them all together by asking them to work so hard on every draw. Its fine on a mod with a high drain battery, but an eGo twist just cannot perform well under this much workload - which is why you are ending up with weak hits.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses. I have replaced the dual coil with a single just tonight. It's better already, more throat hit , no popping, no gurguling. Still good flavor, pretty good cloud.
Just to clarify, I'm not chasing clouds. I just want a really good draw/ throat hit/ flavor. I was under the impression that the pt3 would give me an improvement over the pt2. Guess I was wrong.
I still intend to look at other options, I'm just not in as big a hurry now. :D

If you want more vapor, you can also look at your juice, adding more VG will produce more vapor - I use 50/50, and it creates decent vapor. (Adding in ordering it with a higher percentage, adding VG to an existing juice will dilute the flavor).

You can also get more vapor on a ProTank by using cotton instead of silica for the wick, and going with a lower resistance head - I rebuild mine around 1.6-1.8, and they perform pretty well.

Your B&M just wants to sell you gear (and is an idiot), and probably thinks you want to get into sub ohm vaping, to "chase clouds". There's nothing wrong with your tanks, you just need to adjust some things. You can get into sub ohms, but it's not for all day gaping, or chain gaping. If you want to look into that, you need to research battery tech, safety, and learn how to wrap coils, and buy all the gear - mech, batteries, charger, wire, ohm checker, etc...

A good, solid mod can also help, but it won't be a huge difference - switching to 50/50 for me was the most significant change for vapor on my ProTanks. Having said that, getting a SiD or a Vamo or an MVP is a good idea, sounds like you're ready for an upgrade, and the performance and battery life will be a big improvement for you.

You might want to look into carto tanks, too - they produce better vapor, and flavor, and are easy to use.
