got myself some rechargable batteries put them in a battery box and connected them to my homemade usb pass thru . its an 801 atomiser . in the box are 6 800 mah batteries. the cable between the box and the atomiser is about a metre long. so far so good . it gives a good hit. what i would like to know is this safe or are the crown jewels at risk if i put the battery box in my pocket whilst vaping.

That depends on the batteries and the chargers. Charging a NiMh battery can get very complicated if you want it too, and so simple chargers may not always appear to work right. Chances are that they are charged well before the 8 hour mark though. If you look at your chargers, they may have a charge current rating on them somewhere, and that will help you know how long to charge them.

More than you ever wanted to know about NiMh battery charging.

when i first put this together i tried it with three batteries then four and then to six. six gives an excellent vape and is way better than the original 801 batteries at 3.7 v . i have been using a usb pass thru for the last couple of years and it is good knowing i can now take my vaping with me wherever i go . have a nice day.

the battery box will fit in my pocket ok . it looks bigger in the pics. already had most of the bits to put this setup together. needed the batteries and charges . spent about sixteen pounds. i like it though . might of cost the same as a couple of 801 batteries but i bet it lasts a lot longer and gives a better vape. have not had much luck with 801 auto batteries . give them a month or so .

would really like to get some high mah batteries but my chargers are a bit on the slow side. i do have four 2300 mah and a couple of 1300 mah batteries but they are at least 5 years old . i am thinking they would take about 23 hours to charge but i am not sure . is it ok to mix the 2300 and the 1300 s not in the charger but in the device .

If you can find the Duracell 15 minute fast charger, GET ONE ! :D You can find one online. I have one and there's 4 slots for batteries. It really does only take 15 minutes or so to charge all 4 batteries (or 3 or 2) at once. Well worth the money! Duracell 15-Minute Charger and AA NiMH Batteries, 4/pk
I got mine at a local office supply. Amazon has them as well. It will charge any brand of ""Rechargeable" AA or AAA size ( duracell, energizer etc.). I'm not sure if you have them locally or not in England  I LOVE mine :)

I'm no expert but I would recommend to use all the same mah batteries in the device at once. I wouldn't mix them together. But as I said, I don't know how that would effect it because I've never done that. Some one with more experience would tell you better then I can :)

I just recently started building mods and yesterday I discovered the "puck". I have a bunch of the NiMh Duracells floating around. I get them on Feebay for just under $2 a batt. Now I just need the fast charger, the one I have takes hours to charge them. I just ordered the parts to make a couple pucks yesterday. Let the experiment begin.....

You will love the fast charger. I got mine at Staples for 38 bucks and it came with 4 batteries. I started making mods like this after reading the Puck thread too  because I live in Florida also and it's just easy to access these batteries at any store. A girl's gotta be prepared when the hurricanes come in so she needs a LONG LASTING vape
