Hi all, I just got most of my WL order today and I had a question about cutting the Nic down.

First off I ordered 100mg. From what I understand the higher the mg the better it will keep.
I also got it from WL with VG (no PG in the mix) I would like to add some PG to the mix so I
can test out what I might like better before I need to order more.. I was thinking about
making one that's 80/20 and one at 70/30 and maybe one at 50/50 (PG being the lower number)
Am I right in thinking I'm going to end up with 70mg, 80mg and 50mg of Nic?

Also, Just about every juice calculator I look at has a place to add a percentage of water.
What's the point of doing that? I know you can sub alcohol for water but I'm still unsure as to why
you would add water or alcohol..

I sometimes add 20% distilled water to my 100% VG juices so they wick better. I don't like the throat hit from alcohol.

If you are mixing with pg, it will thin the vg so you don't need water.

How many milliliters of nic did you get? I usually keep 30 mls cut to 50 mg/ml in a working bottle in my box, and keep the rest in the freezer at full strength. You can freeze it after you dilute it, but keeping it full strength takes up less space in the freezer!

And you are correct, 80% of 100 mg is 80 mg. I would cut it a lot lower than that! Take 15 mls of your 100 mg, then 15 mls of either pg or vg, and have a working bottle of 30 ml either 50/50 or 100% vg. Then using a recipe calculator you can add plain vg and pg to get the nic level and variations of percentages in small batches.

I use water to get my mix right, since I use high PG I don't need to thin it but, I do need to cut the nic more than the mix I like would do w/o water, so I use water to get the nic down to where I want it.

Best thing is but the 100 nic, like you did, keep the undiluted stuff in the freezer, take it out half an hour or so before you mix. Saves space and, keep it fresh indefinitely. Being VG it will really thicken up when frozen so, you need to let it warm a bit for easier measuring and mixing.

thanks guys. Any advantage or disadvantage to using one over the other?

Guessing you are referring to PG vs VG, they are different and people perfer them in differing ratios. Experiment and see what you like. Some say there is advantage to storing nic in PG or VG only but I've heard both. Plus it sounds like you already purchased some so I would keep it full strength in the freezer in smaller bottles.

I use 100mg nic in 100% VG and store it in 1/2 pint canning jars in the freezer. You can get a good tight seal with canning jars and lids. I keep it in the frig once it's thawed and I never dilute it until I mix it. VG isn't too hard to work with if you get some syringes with large holes. I get mine free at my pharmacy and they're excellent for VG draws.

Thanks! I was referring to water vs alcohol.. Not PG/VG. Hey Linda, How are you getting syringes free? Here in NJ they charge you 3x retail on everything..lol However, my brother in law works in a hospital.. He's going to pick me up an assortment of 1, 3, 5, and some 10cc syringes.. Last time I got a few for killing off some unwanted critters in my reef tank. It had a plastic tip that's used to go into an IV.
