Nic Base Question

I just purchased this:
- 125 ml of 50 mg/ml #100400012

In order to cut it to 8mg, how much PG would I need?

According to my calculator, it calls for 660 ml (22 ounces).

Does that sound right? That's a lot of juice.

This would be the first time I cut my own, so any advice is appreciated as well.

125*50/785 =7.96 and some change. so yes you are correct, or close enough.

explanation: 125*50 = 6250 mg of nicotine in your base
125+660 = 785 (total volume after adding pg)
6250/785= 7.96 (rounded) mg/ml

Any recommendation on ratio PG/VG? I know it's subjective. I usually vape 80/20 juices from vendors and I'd like to stay close to that DIY

personally i prefer a 70/30 mix. but have made lots of 80/20 mix diy in the past

Just a head's up. You might want to mix in small batches before you commit to pre-mixing a large nic base.

Yeah, your calculations will get you to 8mg but have you figured in further diluting of the nic when you add flavoring? 'Tis why small batches make sense -- trial and small error as opposed to a large boo-boo. =)

I'll second both of these. What happens if you find 8mg is too weak after a while? I keep my base at 48mg and only mix enough for a week, 20ml or so. And use, take account of your flavour in your recipe as part of the PG proportion.

I thought about that. The calculators are kind of confusing to me. The one that makes the most sense is breaktru's and I still haven't figured it out yet. As soon as I do I think I'll be more comfortable mixing in small batches.
