I know almost everyone here is going to yell about this post and I wil probably get banned but here goes.

Nic is honestly and truly a poison just like lots of drugs we like to use. I am a 40 year smoker and have just changed over to vaping in the past 3 months. The health benifits are great and I wouldn't go back to analoges for anything.

So I am a new vaper.. But I am not a new human, I have spent 62 year on this planet, 40+ of them with a Phd Eng. One of my youngest adult daughters is a biochemist Bsc, my oldest is a postgrad.

Please consider this :

The lethal dose for a non-smoking adult is .5 to 1mg per Kg of body wieght. ( look it up )
The lethal dose for a child is 0.11 ml per Kg.
24mg e-liquid contains 24mg of nic per ml ( not 2.4 or .24mg per ml )

So one 10ml bottle of 24mg e-liquid contains 24 x 10 or 240mg of nic
240 mg X 2.2 lbs per Kg = 528 lbs of adult non-smoking human at 100% absorbtion.
( 240 mg X 2.2 lbs) X 10 = 5280 lbs of child.

Argue about no studies, absorbtion rates, civil rights, second hand vape or anything you like.

One 3ml bottle of nic juice will put a child in the hospital if your lucky or in the cemetary if your not.

We love our candy apple, cotton candy, butter scotch and other sweet wonderful smelling e-juices. I use them and love them as well. BUT they are like putting a hand grenade in a doll, children will love them too. The first time a child drinks e-liquid, we will not be talking about a vaping in public bans. vaping will be outlawed.

Please get e-liquid manufacturers to put real danger lables on thier bottles. Maybe put bottles inside real child proof containers. Maybe bring back the skull and cross bones labels.

Please lock up your nic. Treat it with respect. Think about how we carry it. What happens if we leave it at a freinds house.

Lets look at a solution to this real problem, at least exploding batteries burn the vaper not the inocent.

I understand what you're saying, as a mother of 2 girls, but that is where it ends. It's become all too obvious to me over the years of dealing w/ other kids and their parents that the kids are being told what to do less and less and are being watched less and less. Either the parents are too busy trying to make ends meet or they just give in to the spoiled kid.

This is would be the equivalent of putting a skull and crossbones on prescription meds. Are those containers truly child-proof? Do you know how many people on meds have dropped a pill or 2 only to have it end up in a child's mouth? Why don't most keep their medicine under lock and key??

It all comes down to the responsibility of the parent. There are dozens of household items that could kill a kid and we all have to do our part to protect our children.

Just sayin.

I think it's every parent's duty to protect their children from any type of harm to the best of their ability. If you have children around, keep your nic liquids up and possibly in a locked cabinet.

Exactly why would a parent of little children leave it around where a child could get to it? It's a parent's responsibility to keep harmful substances out of the hands of their children.

Clorox is extremely harmful and will kill a child. Do you see anyone outlawing Clorox?

I don't have children in my house, and I don't think anyone should impose extreme safety measures on me to protect themselves from having to exercise due diligence in their duty to protect their children.

If you have small children in the house, put the nic liquid in a child proof container, put poison stickers on it if you want, and keep it in a locked cabinet.

However, please don't tell me how I should handle my nic, or suggest the imposing of extreme measures on the companies producing the nic liquid, and that includes child proof containers. Lots of eliquid vendors offer the option of child proof containers. Parents of small children should only shop with those vendors if they want their eliquid in a child proof container. I do not.

Parents should ultimately take the responsibility of protecting their children, not the government.

Alan,
good post. It's been said many times about not leaving e-juice around for kids, pets, or young adults with
under-developed-frontal-lobe-syndrom :)

Repeating it will at least be a reminder.

and even those that don't agree with all aspects of your post got to rethink their positions, and that is also good.

How about the vendors that intentionally mislabel higher concentrations of e-juice as a customs dodge?

Let's remind the adults to put their own skull and cross bones labels on those.

and don't leave your rare earth battery magnets around where kids can get them.

While I agree with much of what your saying, I disagree with how you are saying it.
The vast majority of us here are adults, so how about treating us as such. Scare tactics may work with some, but you will find that science and logic will get you a lot farther. A little bit of tact can go a long ways.
Oh and, most with a Ph.D know how it's written.

    Not exactly the same.

e-juice in pretty bottles, with really nice flavors, and kids doing Caffeine snorts, caffeine and alcohol, smoking potpourri, hey, I bet some would think some nic in a sports drink would be a real hit.
When do teens and young adults realize they aren't really invincible? 25? 30?

Talk about safety and get rebuttals.
can't win this one Alan. You made your point, good.
Keep it up and they will call you names :)

I just got two bottles of juice from a local vendor. The best thing is they use child proof caps on their bottles. I do use a 16mg nic and the juice is kept in the butter holder section at the top of the fridge door. I am happy to see someone using better judgement with the child proof caps, but if it is in reach of my two year old it is in her mouth so I use my judgement when placing items like this and meds in places, being sure she cant get a hold of them.

I hate to say but there should be some kind of conscientious between all manufacturers of PV's and juice on warnings of use and child safety for these products. This would not only help out the manufacturers but it would also help with future rules and regulations that are considered by big brother. As with everything else if the process is started to warn against dangers, and informing people of any type of danger, and showing that responsibility is being taken to minimize risk then a lot of groups and people will start to look at us, and what we choose to do differently.

Every vendor I use has childproof caps and warnings about keeping it away from kids. If your vendor does not suggest it to them.

How are they going to slip it though customs when they ship overseas?
Could you see a custom's agent opening a box of plastic bottles with skull and cross bones on them :)

Personally I'm more afraid of water. That stuff has killed tons of people over the years, wayyyy more than nic has ever killed.

I suppose if I had kids, I'd have to rid my house of all cleaning chemicals, caffeine, nic, water, electricity, knives, forks, pencils, scissors, etc.

Omg, I just realized that I'm living in a death trap. I'm going to go hide under my covers now.
