So I just got into vaping and I started off with no nic. I have never smoked cigarettes or cigars and I don't plan on it either... After getting used to the no nic juice, I moved on to 6 nic. I tried it and it burned my lungs and throat so bad I was coughing. After doing some more hits, I noticed I was wheezing a tiny bit. I have the low end of asthma and was wondering if nic plays a part with that? I feel totally normal with no nic juice, but with 6 nic juice I wheeze a bit. I just order 3 nic juice so hopefully I didn't waste my money... Any Advice?

Are you chain vaping? I noticed when I first started at 6MG ( which wasn't enough nic for me ) I would start chain vaping hoping to control my nic withdraws and noticed I would have a slight wheeze.

Like Letitia posted above, why go to a nic lvl if you've never smoked? I'm not judging by all means but if you have slight asthma , that nic could be triggering a slight asthma attack.

If I were a never smoker and had asthma, there's no way I'd be vaping period, let alone adding nic. Are you concerned about your wheeze? That would be telling me something is wrong, and I'd be more likely to put the vape away than try to tinker with my nic levels. Is there a reason you want nicotine at all? This is all making very little sense to me. If you have asthma, it's really not ideal to be inhaling anything into your lungs. The wheeze MAY be from the nic, or just vaping generally catching up to you. Also, vaping nic carries risks (though they appear lower than from smoking) but it's still a risk nevertheless. Why the desire to add nic at all, if it's not something you've become dependent on (yet).

I'd really see your doctor, and put the vape down for a bit, and tell him of your "plans" to go to 3 nic instead of 6. Ask him about vaping generally, for asthma, and if he feels it is a good idea. Really, it's not. It is my *belief* that vaping is less harmful than smoking, but I'd never recommend that a never-smoker *asthmatic* take up the practice.

With that said, I guess you are going to do what you are going to do. Try 3 nic and see if it's better. Though if you are getting no wheezing with 0 nic, why not just do *that*.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Sometimes it's hard to point the finger at one chemical (nic) masked a group of chemicals which may cause your problem. Then you add on the "we are all different and react in different ways" factor and the cause/blame is many times more difficult to establish.

I've got asthma and was stupid enough to start smoking. You have an opportunity here, make a choice. Absolutely anything is a possible aggravant for your asthma. Menthol is a classic, across-the-board no-no. Vegetable Glycerin frequently causes a weightiness on users' lungs. Propylene Glycol is uncommonly an allergen, but it and nicotine produce "throat hit", a colloquialism for your airways being aggravated by vapour or smoke.

Nicotine or not, if you really must vape, just please make sure you talk to your doctor, not us, about vaping. Generally safe is about as close as we get right now when it comes to what we're doing to ourselves, and that is generally true, so make sure you have a quick chat with your GP to make them at least aware that you're vaping.

Welcome to ECF. I have to ask, why nic at all if you were fine without it - and why take up vaping if you have asthma?
qft

that being said: I have had asthma since I was a child and smoked for 20+ years. I was generally under a PAD smoker and quit for 6 months to a year a few times, but my asthma never got better until I started vaping. Haven't needed my inhaler in years, I can ride my bike longer than when I smoked and I can actually jog for more than a 1/4 mile now. I vape 3mg (moving up to 4.5mg for personal reasons) but I also vape 0mg in the evenings and don't notice any difference in my breathing (and never cough when I vape) when using 0, 3 or 4.5 mg nic.

I would suspect a PG or VG issue before nicotine. Is the PG/VG ratio the same in all the liquids you have tried?

good point, the things he describes are what happened to me when I moved up from 70vg to 80vg (heavy/tight chest also) and once I went down to 70vg again all was good.

The OP has never smoked, I was just curious - why try vaping?.

Makes no sense to me, either.

If the OP was thinking that smoking might be a good idea (it ain't), and said "vaping might be better," then maybe making a bad decision instead of a worse one?

Still a bad decision. The good one is to do neither.

I agree. Wish OP would pop back in. Did you get Battlestar yet?

Kinda figured. Could be some of us (me) came off a little harsh. Hate to see anyone walk into a possible addiction.
My experience has been that someone asking for advice on how to make a bad decision usually will regardless of how hard someone tries to talk them out of it.
