Nic Level Equivalent To Regular Cigs

Haven't gotten enough posts to go to the discussions and I ain't searching through all the other threads, so here's my question about nic levels.

I was a occasional smoker. about a pack and a half a week. I am currently using a juice with a nic level of 18. I started on 6 but wasn't getting the satisfaction. Exactly what nic level equals a per pack / a day smoker. The nic levels vs. cigarette use is confusing.
Thanks

I really don't think there is any true way to compare the two. It depends on how you vape, how much you vape, what pg/vg ratio you vape, what you're vaping it out of, so on and so forth. For me about 3ml of 24mg juice gives me the same satisfaction as what I once got out of a full pack of cigarettes, but for others I'm sure 24mg is high, and when I drip 24mg is REALLY high. I think all you can do is try different things out and find out what's best for you; I don't think there is any set in stone formula that says x-ecig = y-analog.

When vaping for clouds, I think a lot goes right out the mouth. If inhaling, a "vapor" does NOT get processed in the lungs. I don't do much cloud. I go with my urges. I have some 24s some 18s and several 6mg bottles. In the evening, I generally go with 6mg. I am in front of the TV and vaping more. Anyway, the urges and common sense are what I follow.

I noticed that if I use the 24, I get fewer urges than the 18mg.

Hi and welcome to ECF. You are right that the nic levels can be confusing. Part of the reason for that is that nic is absorbed differently when vaping versus smoking. From what I have learned since vaping is that recommended levels aren't going to work for everyone. I know one person who smoked 2 packs a day and 24mg worked great for him. I smoked about 25 a day and 18mg worked great for me, though I have since dropped to 12mg. A co-worker of mine also smoked about 1 1/2 packs per day and 18mg was too much for her, so she dropped to 12mg and it is working great for her.

I hope you find what works for you and that vaping continues to be a sufficient substitute for analogs. Thanks for sharing your experience. I've learned that we are all in this thing together and that is why I like the friendly, supportive, knowledgeable and non-judgmental community here.

Keep the vape and namaste.

Not sure with folks who are occasional smokers. It is good to remember that it takes nic a bit longer to "hit" when vaping compared to smoking, so not quite the almost instant nic hit like there is from smoking. That may affect how your body (and brain) react to nic while vaping, because it does not hit as quickly.

If 18mg is working for you right now, stick with it for a while. You can always drop nic levels a bit later down the vaping path. One thing that folks here have taught me is that getting off of analogs (if that is your goal) is a marathon, not a sprint. So whatever it takes to stay off analogs for today is the right choice for you.

Best to keep 2 tanks; 1 with the higher nic, and your main one with the lower nic.
Use the lower nic for the habitual motions, and when you feel a craving take a shot at the higher nic and put it down.
There's no lighting up or cigarette going out with vaping, so there is a tendency to end up vaping more that you used to smoke.

Also your PG/VG ration is going to affect how it hits you; a high PG ratio will hit harder; a high VG ratio will taste smoother and produce more fog.
From your post I would guess you liquid is high VG.
