Hi everyone. I guess they make us noobs start here.

Anyway, i was prompted to join here on advice of friends. I just got a liter of really bad flavorless ejuice last week from a biz in california, and i am hoping to learn what businesses to avoid so that does not happen to me again. Usually the product is clear and actually flavorless. In this case, it was rusty brown, smelled really musty, and tasted even worse. Yes, i have an entire liter of it. I am a cancer patient with limited funds due to the cancer, so i cant afford to take losses like this often. I have mixed my own ejuice in the past and may have to return to doing that.

Otherwise, i am just looking to converse with fellow vapers. vaping has saved my life. Cigarettes were causing lung infections and i had no choice but to quit. From my perspective, ECigs are the best invention to date to help people get off of cigarettes. I dont think i would even be here today without them.

Hi zach86 and welcome to ECF :)

The problem with juice is that you might not like what I do and vice versa. It is really a matter of taste. You would think that if you buy a strawberry juice it should and would taste like strawberry to everyone, but it just doesn't work that way. I've read reviews of a juice where some people thought it was exactly as advertised and loved it, others thought it didn't remotely taste as advertised and hated it, some thought the flavoring was too strong and some thought it was hardly noticeable.

The best advice I feel I can give you is to start with 10-15 ML bottles of juice to taste test and see how you like it. That's what I did when I started vaping and I found I liked about one in five, with about another two in five being vapeable. I then ordered a larger bottle of the one I really liked and another few small bottles of different juices to test. Once I had a few good ones I didn't feel the need to experiment with as many new flavors anymore and it got cheaper. One thing I did find was that my tastes changed over time and sometimes a juice I really liked earlier didn't do it for me anymore after a while.

I did that for about nine months and then started to make my own juices. Premixed juice prices are typically between $0.20 to $1.00 a ML. I can make my own for about $0.05 a ML. I can also adjust my recipes exactly the way I like, so it's a win-win for me. We have a very active DIY E-Liquid sub-forum here that has a lot of great info in it and some very knowledgeable people. You can find it here. You can read that forum now and you'll be able to post there after you have five posts under your belt.

Best of luck with it!

Yeah for flavored Ejuice that is a good idea. I use flavorless and have been vaping for years. Flavorless is generally clear in color and flavorless. The first batch from the biz was awesome. Fresh, clear in color, etc., exactly what i was looking for. The second one was rusty brown, very musty smelling and tastes even worse. I have been vaping long enough to know bad nic when i get it. For flavors tho, your advice is perfect. I have low energy these days and didnt really want to go back to making my own. Prices on flavorless ejuice is cheap enough to just buy it already made.

In that case all you need is a good nic base supplier. I'm in Canada and buy mine from Canadian suppliers so I have no experience with American suppliers (assuming you're in the US). The folks who know will be by in a bit to help you out :thumb:

2 thoughts (or cents) to share here on this topic:
  • There exists a group called
AEMSA | American E-Liquid Manufacturing Standards Association
    www.aemsa.org
They've been around a bit, yet I dont see them pushing presence/marketing/posting membership on websites. I wish they would! I think its a fabulous selling point. Im hopeful the vendors here are listening?
  • Its easy enough through here on ECF to locate trusted, tried and true manufacturers- both online and B&M. I dont understand the need to go trailblaze into unknown territory with the plethora of known choices. Read posts that resonate with your flavor or ingredient tastes and use their supplier(s).
All the Best.

Yes i am in the US, but i live not too far from Canada. Last time i was real active on message boards relating to vaping, Canadians were having a hard time with EJuices, obtaining them, etc... I think it had something to do with government regs or similar. Glad that has worked itself out. While i am new here, i have read threads here going back many years. Just never joined. :)

Taste is very subjective. I would look for samplers. I record all my purchases and notes about them.

I buy ones and twos from a few places. Probably, I get 40% from Mount Baker Vapor (MBV).

Hope helps.
I can certainly second a recommendation for MBV being a "trusted" source for liquid.
