Was that the one with the teeny band and the flavors? (Neither of which, of course, will appeal to children, eh?)

I wonder if the manufacturer is holding its breath lest someone with a loud enough voice points out the hypocrisy of saying that long-term use, and/or dual use, of their product is okay but the same use of ecigs isn't.

I don't know if it's the same ad. The first lady said she quit for something like 70 days using the gum and one of the guys said he quit for 15 days, but not in succession, whatever that was supposed to mean. I suppose they were suggesting longer than the old guidance for use (like people weren't already chewing the gum for years) and not to feel bad if you have a cigarette as long as you keep buying the product. That doesn't suggest how I used NRT after I gave up trying to quit. If I had a long international flight, I'd use the patch and scramble for the outside to smoke myself up after the flight.

These are two different ads, and I have seen the one you refer to. As you say, the message is very unclear. I remember thinking, the first time I saw it, I quit smoking cold turkey too, every night, for 8 hours...

(I think that man saying "15 days, but not in succession" is implying either repeated failures or dual use, neither of which, methinks, the manufacturer wants to come right out and say...)
