Hi Folks, I've built 4 Nicosticks and remain impressed at the ingenuity of this device. The DC jack is the sticking point. I've used Kobiconn and Switchcraft jacks and both needed a lot of filing (I used a belt sander) to get a good atomizer connection. I find epoxying the jack in place to be tricky as well. I noticed Switchcraft makes a long thread jack-the L722A. These are carried by Mouser Electronics. Anyone ever try one? I'd really prefer to attach the jack in the normal way, with a nut, rather than gluing it in. Note that I don't use the recessed atomizer technique.

Those 722a's are pretty pricey are you sure those are the same thread as the 1/4 phono jack? I mean your paying 4.56 for each one that's 4 times as much for the regular ones. IMO I just like to keep it as low as possible price wise. I got this site from a post that Warp1900 made a while back, check it out.... 1/4 Inch Jacks and Plugs

You will have to order something again sooner or later Mike ;):p

True, true....I'm already 1/3 through this 10ml of RY4 I ordered from them...that's a good excuse to make another order, right?

Gonna wait until the starter kit gets here though...gotta decide how it compares to my 510.

Ok, those adapters from Ruyan look nice! The 722a jacks I pointed out should work fine, I just wonder how long the center pin is. They're not 1/4", much smaller. 1/4" is usually used for muscal stuff. Carlos49, I noticed you're in Cent. FL. Skycraft in Orlando has DC jacks @ 50 cents each, FYI.

The point of the Ruyan adapters is that they have battery connectors on them.
The only DC jacks you don't have to cut or file are the ones from radio sharks, but again, it makes no sense anymore if you can get the real deal for $3.50 which is similar to what you would pay for the DC jacks.

I hear ya. Of course, I too just ordered from Ruyan, hafta wait for the next order. Say I used the adapter for a nicostick, how do I get to the terminals? Is there a thread discussing the use of the adapters?

Thx, Guiltyspark

No they just started selling them recently, but you have to remove the connector from the adapter, that is the whole point of buying them.

Just like you would remove the connector from a dead battery.
