Totallywiked as announced their intent to close in the summer of 2018
due to regulatory constrictions.
The FDA said it would take action against vendors they felt were
not applying or,not applying in good faith to meet the new regulatory requirements
I assume before the August 2018 date........
The -vast majority- of
juice manufacturers will be closing down, it's not a matter of if,
but when. I expect to see many closure announcements in 2017. Some
juice manufacturers are planning to milk the market through the end of 2018 before "bailing out" at the last possible moment, however the FDA has been threatening to take legal action against those who do. In any case it won't be long before the only retail
juice that'll be available will be those offered by major corporations
(like big tobacco). With very little market competition and the extreme high overhead cost of FDA approval/compliance, juice prices will rise
significantly. Then of course there's the coming state tobacco taxes
(on these newly deemed "tobacco products") which will be added on top of that. In the aftermath I suspect we could see retail juice prices at or above the $1.50 per ml mark in PA where there's already a 40% tax in place with many other states
rushing to follow suit.
.....In the meantime it
will be interesting to see how the FDA reacts to what will certainly be
many of these type of announcements.
They'll be grinning ear to ear as will the members of congress who pressured them to take action against us in the first place. Declining tobacco sales will stabilize, the "right" people will be getting the lion's share of profits and state tobacco tax revenues will soon recover from their recent losses,
all will be right in their world.
With a freezer full of liquid nic and several years experience making NETs none of this will impact me personally but it will devastate the future of vaping and specifically those who currently smoke who might have been able to quit through vaping.
