Hello,
I'm a newbie and have a for me big question.
I have 100% VG and 100% PG.
My nicotine is 100% PG.
Now my question.
If I mix 4.5ml VG, 4.5ml PG 1.0 Water and 1.2ml Nicotine, do I have now a Nicotine base of 12mg Nicotine?
How I said, I'm 100% new and don't want to make any mistakes.
Then, I like the Coffee flavor. I would put 0.35ml Coffee in a 10ml bottle and fill it up with my Nicotine base.
In my opinion, I should have a 12mg Coffee flavor Liquid.
Please let me know if I'm right.
For an answer, I would be more than happy.
Thank you very much.

Hi schiko and wellcome to ECF. Jimi is right, ejuice Me Up is a really good calculator for this stuff. You really need to learn it and use it to stay safe. It's free and there are instruction on the web site.

There is also a DIY E-Liquid sub-forum here where you can find a lot of information on making juice.

Hello,

Now my question.

If you mix 4.5 ml VG + 4.5 ml PG + 1.0 ml water +1.2 ml 100 mg/ml nic base, you'll have 11.2 ml of stuff to put in a 10 ml bottle that already has 0.35 ml of flavoring in it. You need to be shooting to make 9.65 ml.

You have the right amount of 100 mg/ml nicotine base to make 12 mg/ml in a 10 ml solution. (12% so for 10 ml, 1.2 ml) So now you need to make 10 ml minus 0.35 ml minus 1.2 ml = 8.45 ml of VG, PG, and water.

All of that sounded like greek to me, and I know how to do the math. The calculator is a definite must as a start, but let me see if I can put it into layman's terms a little.

Let's assume you have 100mg/ml VG nic base, and you want to make a 10ml bottle of liquid. you are looking for 12mg/ml.

If you filled the bottle with base, it would be 100mg/ml. Don't do that!

Half of the bottle would be 50, a quarter (2.5ml) would be 25mg/ml. 1/8th of the bottle would make it 12.5 mg/ml, right?
1/8 of 10ml is 1.25ml. This leaves you with a total of 8.75ml of other stuff you can put into the bottle. What you do with that 8.75 ml is the difference in awesome and terrible. Each flavoring is different. I make my fruit flavors with about 30% base and about 10% sweetener, because I like a strong flavor. I suspect coffee would get bitter at high levels, so if it was me I would try about 10-15% base in it, so flavoring: 1.25ml, which is 12.5% of a 10ml bottle.

So now we have about 2.5ml in the bottle. If you like sweetener, add 1ml of sweetener, which can make a big difference in the flavor.

OK so we're at 3.5ml now. The rest is filler,

You said your base was VG, I assume the coffee and sweetener are PG. If you are going for a 50/50 mix, you need 3.75ml of VG to reach 5ml, and you'll need 2.25ml of PG , so here's how I would do it:

1.25ml 100 nic base (VG)
3.75ml VG base
2.75ml PG based flavor
2.25ml PG base

in this example, 50% is VG (including nic), and 50% is PG (including flavor). It should be thin enough not to need water in 50/50, but if you would like it thinner, reduce EACH 0% nic base by .25 to .5ml, and compensate with water.

As I said, each flavor is different, so you may need to adjust the sweetener or flavor up or down quite a bit. My tobacco flavors are terrible above about 15%, but some of my fruit flavors NEED 30% to be able to taste them. Also worth mentioning is that sweetener isn't a necessity if your flavor base is low enough or already a bit sweet. Additionally, VG has a little sweeter taste than PG, so if I mix with a lot of VG, I usually cut my sweetener down marginally to compensate.

Hope that helps...
