Nicotine is a stimulant so...

Nicotine is supposed to affect how you sleep, but it might vary depending on your tolerance--as with any drug. From perusing the forum, it seems a lot of folks either stop vaping before bedtime or switch to a lower nicotine level juice. It might just depend on you. If you can vape before going to sleep and wake up the next morning feeling well rested, vape on. But if you notice that it interferes with your sleep, change up your routine and see what works best.

I have trouble getting to sleep already so I HAVE to stop vaping at least 30 minutes before going to bed. I also generally switch to 12mg juice instead of 24mg earlier in the evening after supper. If I have to get up early for work like during the week I usually give myself and hour before bedtime of no vapes.
Been vaping for right at 5 months now and have went from 36mg juice down to mostly 12mg just this last week and I anticipate dropping that to 6mg in the next 2 months then on down and so forth.
So vaping before bed for me definitely messes with my sleep.

I've had occasional problems with insomnia most of my life. I'm very sensitive to caffeine, and don't like to drink it past mid day, or else I may have problems sleeping. But, I've always smoked before bed, and I now vape before bed, and it doesn't seem to affect me at all. I don't worry about the nic level of what I'm vaping (I have some 16, 18, and 24)... it doesn't seem to matter, no problems with any of the strengths. Nicotine just doesn't seem to affect me the way caffeine does. Maybe it's different for others, but that's how it is for me.

Ha! I was just having this conversation with my doc. I also am someone who has desperately struggled with sleep most of her life (finally getting handle on it after years of hard work!), is a caffeine addict (tho fortunately much less so now), and for whom the last cigs before bed and first ones in the morning were most important. And of course my doc would always bring up the fact the nicotine is a stimulant and should therefore make it hard to get to sleep. But there's another side to nicotine addiction, which is that feeding the habit can be relaxing (probably mostly just psychological), which can help us get to sleep.

Personally, what I've found really interesting is that while I never noticed the stimulant effect of nicotine in analog cigs, I DO notice it now with vaping! I kind of think of it like the nicotine in analogs being muddled in with so much other crap that actually makes you tired (CO, for example), that I just couldn't perceive the nicotine pick me up. Now without all the tiring garbage, it's obvious.

I still find the act of vaping before bed very relaxing, but am trying to keep it to a minimum so it doesn't affect my sleep or sleep onset. I think switching to lower nic content juice (maybe even 0mg!) before bed is a really good idea.

I find this to be true as well. Nicotine now acts like very strong caffeine for me. There are theories about some of the other ingredients of tobacco acting as MAOIs, somewhat explaining the different effect as well as why some people cannot switch completely from tobacco to vaping. Check out http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ne-maois-towards-more-effective-e-liquid.html and http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nicotine/44958-so-we-getting-we-not-nicotine.html
I have to lower my nic at night. Never had anything stop me from sleeping before (I drink coffee before bed).

Because of my health issues- my system is already really screwy. I can't stay awake during the day and I can't stay asleep at night. Whether or not i vape before bed or vape during the day; doesn't effect this at all. The nicotine content isn't strong enough to make much of a difference.
When I first started vaping, I did switch to low or no nic at night, but I don't bother any more.
I'd say: watch your body for signs. You'll know if there are problems (shaking, nervousness, etc) and can adapt accordingly. We are all different and our bodies need differet things. There is no one correct answer.

Vaping has affected my sleeping quite a bit. I switch to 18mg couple hours before bed down from 24mg and take Melatonin an hour before I go to bed. I will try cutting down to 12mg a few hours before bed next time I buy more liquid. I believe the nicotine from vaping isn't processed as quick as it is from smoking and therefore builds up more in you system.
