This is what I've been saying.. Nicotine seems to be a "good thing", with virtually no down sides (from anything studied yet). The "problem" with "nicotine" today is that it is accompanied by 3999 other chemicals in the traditional delivery method, and a few dozen of those are known carcinogens, and many are known toxins.

Nicotine, even if addictive, does _not_ seem to be "bad", in any way, shape, or form. But the "good" it does physiologically is well documented (calming, better focus, happy feeling from Dopamine, plays a positive role in regulating blood glucose levels, higher metabolism, etc etc)

I thought I read somewhere that it can contribute to higher blood pressure and a chance of cardiovascular problems....

But, on the whole, I do agree - nicotine isn't -that- bad, certainly not as bad as some of the prescription drugs peddled on TV (possible side effects include, but are not limited to: heavy breathing, loss of bowel control, lack of common sense, inability to form a coherent thought, and death).

It's just the accepted delivery method is downright filthy!

While that is true, caffeine also raises your blood pressure and constricts blood vessels, not unlike what they say Nicotine does..

Nicotine is a stimulant, like caffeine and ........ The "risk" of cardio problems in "normal healthy adults" doesn't exist, I don't think. The issue is for those "at risk" by being overweight or over a certain age (but also having those "normal" age related "diseases" or "proclivities").

Basically, from what I've read, Nicotine is no more dangerous than caffeine, and you don't see THAT being poo-pooed by the "mainstream".

Give 'em time, my friend, give 'em time.....

Did you ever see the movie Demolition Man? Where Sandra Bullock tells Stalone:

Smoking is not good for you, and anything not good for you is bad, hence illegal. Also illeagal - Caffeine, Meat, Sugar and anything Spicy.

If something doesn't change with the way our government is treating the masses, I think this bit of Hollywood humor might just become tomorrow's reality.

I have seen the same statistics and do not doubt them to be true. However, as a test, I yesterday did my first lap of speed-walking through the forest with a Camel SNUS in. I felt no different AT ALL from when I do the speed-walks WITHOUT the snus in. However, it could also be the greater risks of high blood pressure and cardiovascular problems are mitigated somewhat with regular exercise, which I do 7 days a week, most weeks.

Personally, I don't want anyone controling my life - I want to be able to make my own decisions - good or bad - right or wrong. If I screw up, I want to be able to get up, dust myself off, and say OK, I learned something....and I want to teach that self-reliance to my kids, too...

Utopia, I know, and absolutely unobtainable. But, where I'm willing to compromise, the anti's aren't - quit or die.

Actually here in Utah because of the economy they are planning on doing a Caffeine tax. No Lie. Apparently the higher the amount of caffeine, the higher the tax.

I would love to see them tax my coffee haha!
