I am new to vaping. Using an EVOD with 6 mg nicotine menthol juice. I used to smoke about 1/2 pack a day. Now I am vaping more frequently. Am I getting too much nicotine? Should I switch to a higher level and vape less? Also, curious if this nicotine level would show up on a blood test, as I told my doctor I stopped smoking but not that I was vaping.

Yeah, as others have said...you'll know when you are getting too much nicotine. Best thing to do is get the level you think you need (6mg for a half pack a day smoker sounds right), and then have the next higher mg level (11 or 12mg) in the wings. This way you get a firm grasp of your physiological and psychological needs which to me is key when you first switch to vaping. Basically if you have a good juice that you like, buy a 30ml bottle of 6mg and maybe a 15ml bottle of 12mg and mix and match.

Best of luck and welcome to the forums!

I'm at 18mg now down from 24mg. I was smoking about a pack a day when I started. I started at 12mg and just worked my way up till it was enough to kill the cravings. I still stay at a higher nic level since I can't vape at any time I want while at work. Key is to vape at what works for you. Sometimes you just have to play around and find your happy place.

Oh, and as far as a blood test, they technically could request a special test to find certain chemicals in your body. They have to send a request for exactly what they are looking for though. It's expensive for the clinic and extra work for the Doc and I'm not sure why they would do it. There would have to be good reason to request a test like that.

Use the nicotine level that makes you comfortable, mindful of the fact a low level may make you creep back to the analogs. Concerning blood tests, I would think a full panel blood test would detect nic from vaping. Mine do, though the doctor never brings it up. LOL, once when I was smoking analogs, a doctor sat down to review my blood test with me. He was shocked when he came to the nic reading and thought maybe there was a mistake. I told him to calm down because I was a smoker. He had just listened to my chest and told me it sounded very good! Now, the first thing any health provider asks when you walk in the door is if you smoke. Now that I vape, I simply answer no, saving me the obligatory lecture and offer of expensive smoking cessation classes.

Any attempt to determine if you are getting enough or getting too much nicotine by looking only at the nicotine level of the juice in mg is completely futile. Sounds obvious, but most new vapors don't realize that how much liquid they are vaping in a given amount of time matters just as much as the nicotine strength they are using.

1. Have you completely stopped smoking? Are you getting nicotine from smoke and vapor?

2. How much do you vape per day? We usually describe this in milliliters (ml) per day.

24 mg juice may not be too strong if you don't use too much. 6mg juice may not be too weak if you use enough.

I use 24mg, I used the 0... it was that couple of days I realized that I liked smoking for more than the habit of lighting it, taking a pull and blowing smoke rings. I got a big bottle of 24 mg, might buy some weaker stuff and mix it up as the hits are quite strong, but the first few smaller bottles I got were good... I think maybe I should step it down some. Gonna get a 12% bottle and see how I feel about it.

No two vapers are going to vape in exactly the same way. Some just do a better job of getting the nicotine from vapor than others. That's another variable besides nicotine strength and amount per day.

I have always vaped about 2-3ml per day. When I quit smoking completely for vaping I used 24mg juice at 2-3 ml per day. Now I use 15mg juice and rarely use more than 2ml per day.

If I get too much nicotine too fast I'll get cold hands first. Then I'll get a slight headache in the forehead and maybe some slight nausea. This is the same whether I was smoking or vaping. Naturally, no two individuals are going to get the same symptoms from too much nicotine.
