Came across this article on nicotine in Australia today. People have been talking for years about the consequences of draconian anti-vape and anti-cigarette legislation, this is a real world example of what it would look like. And it's not pretty.

Why haven't the pols figured out yet..
They figured out long long ago that the only thing of importance is money and they'll do anything to get more. I think they're upset that they missed the money making boat a dozenish years ago, and they're mad, and the gloves are off..

Why haven't the pols figured out yet that the war on drugs hasn't worked and adding new substances to the war only makes it worse.
I believe that Most Elected Officials and or Policy Makers are Fully Aware of what their Actions will cause.

The Twist is that they are really more Interested in Promoting the Appearance of Saving the World's Problems. Than actually Solving a Problem.

As long as they can Stand in the Spotlight and with a Straight Face tell you how they are Fight to Protect You (or "the Children"), I really Don't think Most give a Rat's Azz what happens.

In fact, sometimes (indirectly or not) being the Cause of a Bigger Problem can be a Good Thing. Because then it gives them an even Big Problem to Hose Up. I mean fix.

If someone truly believes that Combustible tobacco Related Heath Problems are serious, More Serious than the Tax Streams these Combustible products provide, and that Reducing these Problems are in the Common Interest of a Modern Society, then how could they wage an War of Deception and Mis-Information against a Lower Risk Nicotine Product like an e-Cigarette?

They decided to legalise pot, but in most of the States they managed to implement it so badly that the legal market just can't compete with the illegal market. Now they are moving towards doing the same in the vape market. Legalise a handful of really expensive worthless vapes and basically hand over the market over to cheap, potent illegal vapes with all sorts of creepy additives.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever read!!
I live in Victoria Australia and all violence that's going on is mainly because of drug wars with different gangs, nothing to do with nicotine:thumb:
So you reckon the article was blowing up the violence around the smoke/vape situation? I must admit I believed it. I should know better, sorry.

What about the black market part of the story? With the ban on vape and the wild price of cigs a thriving black market seems kind of inevitable. And those markets would likely be of interest to organised gangs eventually. Lots of money to be made. I know from friends in England that the black market in cigs and vapes is growing fast over there. Cigs are heavily taxed and they are taxing and squeezing vapes.

They just busted some den of iniquity in the UK. They found a load of illegally imported loose tobacco and cigarettes. And a bunch of vapes. The legal limit is 20mg/ml I think, they found vapes with up to 60 and some containing various drugs supposedly with no labels. Max legal juice quantity of a vape is 2mls, they found some with up to 10mls of juice.

UK and Aus are both islands which makes illegal imports a bit more difficult I suppose. The US has very long land borders so it would be much easier.
