Hi all
I am an experienced vapor but not understanding the mixing ratios as against flavor.

I have 50ml 00base 30/70 and want to achieve 18mg nicotine strength. My question is if I put the correct amount of nic shot in will this dilute the flavor too much. For example I have nicshot at the max 20mg stremgth 10ml but the strength I need will require 85ml or 8.5 bottles to achieve 18mg strength.

Also I am considering the diy option. Can anyone tell me the ratios in terms of flavour adding. At the moment I am looking at a 00base 30/70 pg/vg + nicshots + x number of 10ml flavour of my favourite brand eliquid.

Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers. Charlie.

The volume of the bottle determines what % is used in flavorings.
ie
50 ml total volume of bottle holding the final mix.
10% of that 50 ml bottle =5 ml. 50x.10 = 5 (Make the % a decimal to achieve ml used)

With only 10 ml of 20mg you do not have enough to make the nic strength @18mg(would require 45ml to have it at 18mg).

Hi Charlie,
If your goal is 18mg/ml, DIY will get you closest.
For example:
a 10ml bottle of 20mg/ml with 15% flavour results in 11.5ml @ 17.4mg/ml.
a 10ml bottle of 20mg/ml with 10% flavour results in 11.0ml @ 18.1mg/ml

FYI:

a 10ml bottle of 18mg/ml with 15% flavour results in 11.5ml @ 15.7mg/ml.
a 10ml bottle of 18mg/ml with 10% flavour results in 11.0ml @ 16.4mg/ml.

Hi Sry
Thanks for replying.
I do have enough nicshots eg 20 bottles of 10ml 20mg nic. My question was about diluting the flavour in the existing 50ml 00base. If I have to put 8.5 bottles of 10ml 50/50 20mg nicshot in this will give me 130ml of which 85ml is the nicshot. Will the flavour still be concentrated enough?

Thanks for this...I'm still a bit confused as everybody seems to think about this slightly differently.

Not really differently. It is all in the math. My directions were at the simpliest way possible. ie. the ingredients needed to complete your request.
Others are looking at your way of dumping things together and wanted you to consider the total volume of what you would end up with. Still just math, just a different way to express the results.

Only you will be able to tell if it dilutes the flavor too much. If the flavor base you have is "designed" to have one shots added, it may be completely fine. Although the higher nic you want, the more dilatation will take place.

Since it's going to be more or less shake and vape, I'd recommend trying a small, tester mix and see if the flavoring is too "diluted" for you, in which case, yes, you may have to add flavoring and etc. Let's hope not, as one shots are designed to be easy going.

Good luck,

Anna

My maths is good...honestly!! This just took a bit of getting my head around. Looking at what I've ordered they are designed for the addition of 1 20mg nicshot to result in a 3mg strength juice. My supplier only sells this juice as a shake and vape so I cant correct if needed. I am starting vaping again after going back to cigars for a year so do not want any problems....especially for the first few weeks!! Damm TPD regs.

That happens to a lot of people. Once you do it a few times and vape the results it will become 2nd nature to mix up your flavors, etc.

I would suggest, tho, to pick up a few empty bottles to mix in and hold your final results. Some of us learn easier by seeing than by reading. Nuttin wrong with that. LOL

Hi all
I am an experienced vapor but not understanding the mixing ratios as against flavor.

Cheers. Charlie.

You will get some dilution because you added nic base containing an unknown proportion of PG/VG to a mix. Also, when you say your nic is 30/70 base it's unknown which number is pg or vg ( common these days, but it does matter). People tend to quote the higher number first, but most of us quote in terms of PG/VG, stating the PG value first.

You need to know the PG/VG ratio of your nic, your flavors, and use a calculator to bring it all about into an accurate result.

Spend some time here. There's lots of valuable info for starting to make DIY juice.

Hi Guys UPDATE.
Proceeded with the learning process and got myself some flavours, PG, VG, Nic and some mixing gear so am going down the DIY route. Sourcing the Nic was a bit difficult but i managed to get 500ml of 100mg/ml so should last me a while. I'm going to start a new thread asking for mix suggestions giving my flavor list. Thanks again for getting me started....

Exactly - and it changes the PG/VG ratio too. This is why for DIY from scratch, even with simple ratios, I use a calculator to check.

One tip to prevent accidents with nic concentration: calculate the TOTAL NIC and divide by the TOTAL VOLUME to see what your strength will be.

For example, if I add 6 mls of 100mg nic to 80mls of VG and 10 mls of flavor, what do I have?

6mls at 100 ml/mg = 600 total mg of Nic.
6 mls + 80 mls + 10 mls = 96 mls total.
So my strength is 600/96 = 6.25 mg/ml

To hit 6 exactly, it's quick and easy using a calculator!!

Thanks...you're a good bunch  I think what was confusing is that all the additives are adding further volume to the final mix:D
