I see it posted on the PIF a bunch. That nic is to high for me. There is not enough nic in it for me. I am trying to understand the nic levels and why.
So my questions are:
How do you know if it is to high? Do you feel or act funny?
Or how can you tell if it is to low?
And explain maybe what your level is and why.

When I get too much nicotine, I end up getting a ton of acid reflux in my throat. I can feel it rising and just sitting there. That's clue #1. Clue #2 is the feeling woozy, headache sensation that I get.

If it's too low, I end up wanting more and not feeling satisfied after 5-10 minutes of puffing away.

My current level varies between 12-18mg. I tend to lower as the day goes on so that I'll eventually sleep at night.

For me a juice is too low in nicotine when it doesn't satisfy my cravings in a reasonable amount of time. I try to equate my pv to an analog in that sense. If after vaping the duration of an analog I am still experiencing a nic fit of any kind then the nic content is too low for me. I currently vape around 24mg and find that to be IDEAL for me... I recently received in a pif some 18mg Velvet Vapors Chocolate Mint (which I am loving!) and I've noticed that I am needing to vape a little more frequently to match my cravings...

As for too high? Nicotine overdoses are no fun! When I OD on nicotine my heart rate increases and I feel extremely nauseous. I also get massive headaches... Some people experience these sensations at different levels thus 'that nic is too high for me'.

Headachy, clearly "buzzed" -- too high.
Vaping like a smoke stack, still jonesing for an analog -- too low.
Generally content, liking the vape but not dying for something -- just right.

I couldn't stop smoking on 16 -- just not enough nicotine for me, particularly at trigger points (first up in the morning, first time in the car, right after dinner).

At 24 I could stop, used a last pack up that week, couple a day, but didn't have a strong urge (just cheap -- I bought 'em, I'll smoke 'em)

Now my go-to preferred blend is my own tob4 at 20 mg strength. It just plain tastes good to me. I love flavors, trying new things, but anywhere from 12 - 30 mg still gets me nicotine; I use 12 generally on a pass-through at work, maybe one puff every 5 minutes, with 20 or 24 in a battery. 30 is equally nice once in a while, but I wouldn't normally chain-vape it; I just don't need it. I'm not edgy, zero cravings. I will generally drop to a lower nic late at night, but it doesn't seem to matter that much, last night I had a couple puffs of Hunters 24 just before I went to sleep, because I like the taste.

You want enough nic to satisfy your cravings without causing unwanted side effects. What's right for you will depend on how much you smoked, how you vape (e.g. chain vaper), and your body chemistry, and the only way to decide is to try different levels. I find 18mg to be a good level for me. It allows me to vape heavily for a while without getting a headache, or a 'buzz', or excess acid. Even so, I sometimes notice my pulse racing when I really overdo it. I have some 24mg juice and with that, I need to go a little easier. Order a couple of small bottles of e-liquid (maybe a 12, 18 and 24mg...I like freedomsmokeusa liquids myself), and you'll know pretty quickly what's best for you. Happy Vaping!

Can't comment on the buzz/OD effect as I've never experienced any of that, be it 6mg or 48mg.

Bear in mind that even a specific nic. level may or may not meet your needs depending on things like what flavour you are vaping and at what (device) voltage and with what model atomiser etc...

e.g.....6mg Menthol may work for you on a 6V 510 device, while 24mg of Watermelon on a regular dse801 may not

You know......I'm on the fence on this whole absorption thing. The limited studies suggest the absorption to be very minor compared to smoking. I do not in any way discount anyone's experience because we are all different. Since it is a question I will share my experience. Generally I vape 24-30MG all day chain vaping. I can drop on any given day to 12MG and if I were to not look at the bottle I wouldn't know the difference.

I have experimented a little as most people know. I chained vaped 54MG platinum ice PG straight on a LR atty. It gave me the relaxed feeling similar to when I would go a long time without a ciggy and then have one, which I know most here can relate to. I waited 1/2 hour and went to 75MG PG, at that point it was too much. I became very nervous and had ........, as well as an increased heart rate.

Take it for what it's worth, that's my experience. I was at least a 2 PAD smoker. I will never question anyone's experience or opinion, because I know we are all different. I do however look forward to the day when more information is available, as far as absorption goes. boB

I was a two pack a day smoker, and I'm finding that 25mg of my tweaked http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-liquid-recipes/119335-cherry-cinnamon-bomb.html recipe is just right. That seems from reading this thread to be the typical level heavy ex-smokers like. I was experiementing with dripping, and overdid it a bit. My symptoms of too much nicotine include feeling queezy and sometimes even breaking into a sweat. I cut down the level to about 1/2, too see if it made a difference, but then I discovered that removing (most of) the filler in cartos stops them from tasting burnt, but I found less satisfaction from the 12.5mg. I've mixed up a couple batches lately back at 25mg, and I'm really enjoying them. You need a certain level of nic in order to get that tingling throat sensation, and it helps the overall throat hit. But everyone is different, some people like a really smooth vap, but I like a solid throat full of smoke feel.

All in the TH for me. Higher nic = bigger TH. my happy spot is 24. I'm certain I don't need that much nic, but I have yet to try a juice in lower MG than that that really does the trick.. and people have tried. Occasionally an 18mg will be okay, but I'll still need to have 24 on hand for when I get a bad urge.

Actually, I found out that I can vape up to 48mg and be very happy, but I do get the jitters.

I started out a year ago vaping 36mg and quickly moved down to 24 mg which satisfied me for a long time. Then i went to 18mg and on down to now, i usually vape 12mg but sometimes as low as 8mg or 6....I'm trying to lower my nic level down to 0 by next spring....which is my goal. I tried to vape something 24 mg not long ago and i swear i got high.

I started about a year and a half ago, started with 24mg.
It just wasn't doing it for me. (I had been at 3PAD)
I went to 36 and like magic, I didn't want to smoke anymore.
Like Firhil, I don't get a "buzz" or any sort thing like that, I'm just where I need to be for me.
I have done 48 without problems, but it seems a waste of nic juice to do it when 36 satisfies me.

I have gotten 24 from PIFs and had hubby fill cartos with the same flavors, different strengths and not tell me which is which.
He noticed that I'd get "antsy" start getting new batteries, muttering about "maybe a fresh carto" and just complaining that it "wasn't doing it for me", then he'd tell me it was the 24mg.

That's as close to a blind study as I can get but it did convince me that I need 36mg, at least for now, and if I'm happy with it, then that's where I need to be.

Whatever it takes to make you happy is what you need. Don't let anybody else try to tell you. If I listened to some on here I'd consider myself a freak and be a "hedonist" for doing high nic. (Yes, it happened. Not in PIF, in the general forum)

And you're not a freak if you only need 8mg either. Whatever "does it" for you.

Really near the mexican border.
I know that I am getting too much nic, when I start to hiccup! I used to hiccup when I used the lozenges and gum also. So when I look at the bottle and it says 18mg and I am hiccupping, I went to almost nothing, like 4mg. Okay there! Okay with nothing. Usually vape at 8-10mg, no higher, I will know, the hiccups start or I get intense heartburn. vape really low and nothing happens. When I crave a cigarette I know I am not getting enough. So I go for 0-12mg most of the time. when I DIY concoctions, I usually make them at 0mg and tell others to add nicotine to it. If I add it, it's at no more than 8 -12mg.
