I can easily understand a switch to vaping from smoking, but the 'slow wean from nicotine' has got me confused. I am mad for the effects caffeine and nicotine give me, and I also have no issues or anything with one on their way to a 0 nicotine level and then 'the door', if that is what one is striving for. This question has me so confused I can't even figure out what more to type.

I second that... the last several years that I smoked, most of the time I didn't want to. I HAD to. I switched to vaping in January, with 18mg juices. When those started tasting "hot" to me (think of the sensation you get with nicotine gum), I replaced my 18s with 12s and found that I tasted the actual flavors more. When 12mg started tasting hot, I moved to 6. I'm now making the move to 3mg. Don't know if I'll step all the way down to 0, but I can tell you that vaping is becoming something I do because I enjoy it. And I don't get that "gotta have my fix now" feeling a couple hours after my last vape.

And of course, people change over time. Right now you're "mad for" the rush. That may or may not be true ten or twenty years from now. Don't stress yourself over the numbers... it still beats the hell out of smoking!

I suppose some folks might have cardiovascular issues that would be better off without nicotine. And I'm planning to get mine a lot lower for the winter, to see if it helps with my painfully-cold hands and feet. Already taken my caffeine down about as low as I can (2 cups of tea in the morning), so if cutting down sharply on nicotine doesn't help, then I guess I'm just stuck with wintertime popsicle paws.

The one I can't figure out is stopping vaping entirely. Why? Do they just WANT to experience the fun of cravings? As Carlin put it so aptly... just 'cuz you get the monkey off your back... the circus hasn't left town. :D

I noticed something really interesting last night. I was eating dinner while watching TV. At the commercial, I got up and took my bowl into the kitchen. I didn't even realize, until the next commercial, that I hadn't grabbed my mod on the way back to the TV -- I waited all the way thru that segment, till the next commercial, AFTER EATING, before I even thought of it. That felt fairly triumphant. :D

And back when you smoked, I bet you never "forgot" that after-dinner square, did you?

How awesome is it to vape because you WANT to? Rock on, Miz. Andria!

Shoot, I was usually starting to "nic out" when I put the last bite in my mouth. :D I'd get up and run right out the door to get that smoke, before even taking my plate to the sink! Last night, I even walked right by my desk, where my mods are, on the way to and from the sink -- it just didn't occur to me. At the next commercial, I'm thinking, what's missing here? OH! My mod! So then I got up to go get it. I told my husband about it, but I'm not sure he really gets why that was so significant to me -- I knew you guys would get it. :D

I've been able to get down from 12mg to 3 mg since June. Of course I started with an EVOD set up and now I have an istick 30 and nautilus--I don't subohm, but I do go through more juice now. I've now found my favorite flavors etc. I will stay at 3 now that I'm comfortable. My cravings aren't bad like they were in the past, but I'm not sure about dropping to zero.

Somr vendors are starting to offer 1.5mg... high VG only, but you don't care about throat hit, it's another option.

In my case, it was more the fact that when I could taste the nic, it was time to lower it. I am at the point where I am starting to taste the nic again. Might be time for me to lower it to 4mg. I like tasting the flavor of the vape, not so much the nic.

I don't want to get rid of nicotine entirely. I think it isn't that bad for you. Some studies even are showing that nic can help for things like Alzheimer's. My Grandfather had that. So, maybe I can lessen the chance of me getting it?

I dunno. Some people would love to not be tied to the habit of vaping. To each his own :)

I don't see any reason to vape no or even low nic. Seems pointless to me, like non alcoholic adult beverages or strip clubs...
Don't get the strip club analogy, could you expound please.

On op's topic; started with 18, been on 12 for two years now. Was considering going down to 6 last year but had a change of heart. Actually considering moving back up to 18.

Low or no nic to me would be a tease; just as a strip club in the US would be...

I always thought it was popsicle toes. ;)

Popsicle paws is from my husband, from when I used to put my cold feet on him in bed. :D Now we have separate bedrooms, so I'm free of jumps-every-3-minutes and freight-train snoring... and he's free of popsicle paws. :D

When I first started vaping, in Feb 2014, I was using 6mg, and gradually getting my smoking down to zero, and I noticed a difference right away. Last winter however, I was using 10mg, and still got the popsicle paws. So I thought this winter I'd try to get down to about 5mg, and see if that helps.

I vape much less than I used to. Went from trying every flavor known to man down to unflavored now.

Nicotine from 24 to 6, I will probably stop vaping in the year ahead. Mission accomplished, I don't crave cigarettes nor vapor.

But I'm still stockpiling, never know what the future may bring.....:)

I quit smoking almost a year ago. At first i was on 18 to 36 mg e-juice. Over time I found I couldn't handle the higher nicotine juices anymore so I lowered myself down to 12. Now I am between 3 mg and 12 mg depending on the day, the juice and how stressed I am. Stress is why I started smoking as a teenager. I smoked for 14 years. To this day the nicotine still helps with stress and depression. I doubt I will ever get off it. But for me it is more so i want then it then need it. Though I recently had my istick 30w go out on me. I had paid forward my old itaste vv with aerotank mini to my step-dad who ended up never giving up cigs. Well after about a week or so of no vaping things started to really get to me. I ended up smoking some cigs. Like 1 cig every other day when I really felt I needed it. It felt like a really low wattage vape and didn't taste all that good. Also I kept to lights. lol. I bummed them off a friend who is a smoker. I ended up getting my old setup back though and have been using it since. I do have a new mod coming in though. I finally got a new job and my first check was today. I placed an order for a Coolfire 4. I couldn't afford high end and at least innoken makes durable products. I refuse to get another eleaf product. I also have no desire to smoke any more cigs. So much for the gateway theory lol. I did light a cig for a friend today when we were driving though. Didn't feel an urge to smoke after that. Though I did have an urge to vape lol. With nicotine your going to find though that you likely will naturally go down lower on nicotine on your own. You will know when your ready to do it. Though if you got a sub-tank mini like I have, you will find that switch to lower is a lot easier. lol. You likely won't have to force yourself though. I think only certain people out there never seem to lower their nic. Those people seem rare. lol
