I don't buy into the claims that "I went down too fast on nicotine so it drove me back to analogs". As long as you have a bottle of the higher nic that you started out with (whatever it was) why would you pick up a smoke. If the higher stuff worked to keep you off analogs in the first place, why wouldn't it work as you attempt to lower your nic intake.

IMHO, the absorption rate is a bit slower when vaping and we don't get that immediate "nic hit" that a smoke gave us. On top of that we build up a tolerance to nic and If your like i was and vaped the same nic level all day, the "nic hit" never happened. That's why I decided a multi nic level approach would be better as I lowered my nic intake. It has worked great for me and I can get that nic buzz at a much lower level. This may or may not work for someone else, just my experience.

Good luck and best wishes.

I started decreasing the past few months, started at 24 and now after a year down to 6-12 depending on flavor.

I did mix up a bottle of plain no nic liquid at my normal ratio of 80/20 to have on hand to dilute liquid. I haven't had issues with the flavors wayning, for the most part I'm finding pre-mixed flavors a little on the strong side lately. HTH

Are you trying to tell me that the body doesn't absorb as much nicotine through vaping as it does through cigarettes. If that is the case than that would be great. I was a pack and a half a day smoker of USA Gold Full Flavors which was about 39 mg of nicotine a day. So are you telling me even though I am vaping 120 mg a day of nicotine I actually am getting less than when I smoked; if so that would settle my mind a little. One question; if the body doe not absorb any more than 10% where does the rest go. Thanks for the reply.

I know it's probably not the advice you wanted, but I have to agree with BardicDruid.

Don't rush it. You're still getting away from the chemicals in cigarettes and the last thing you want is to feel like you have to grab a pack of them.

Slow down and take it easy. You're not getting near the nicotine your math tells you that you are. Most studies suggest about 10% of what is in the liquid is absorbed. So about 12mg a day for you. Or the same as smoking 12 cigarettes worth of nicotine.

Don't let those numbers panic you into a rush and start you smoking again.

We really DO care about you. Please let us know how you're doing.

I have quit smoking once in 2008 after reading Alan Carr's book. I was an idiot to go back to smoking 1.5 years later.
I have tried recently to quit after finding a video version of the book on the internet but it didn't last more than a couple of days because i'm going through a very stressed time in my life from several aspects.

You are asking from fear, the fear every smoker has about quitting smoking. the fear which is caused by the dependency in nicotine but you must keep in mind that the withdrawal symptoms are barely felt.

I encourage you to watch or read Alan Carr's easy way to quit smoking method and turn into a happy non smoker. since you can still vape, it will be so much easier.

I have ordered an Ego type e-cig a few days ago after trying the mini e-cig and i know i'll begin with some nicotine and once get used to vaping without smoking any tobacco cigarettes, i'll cut it at once.
I might experience a few days of slight craving, so what? I'll just vape more often till it passes.
You are stronger than the craving and You Can Control It, don't be afraid of the fear controlling you. Nicotine addiction is easy to break, what's hard to break is the fear.

Hope that helps

Hello there, this is my story/advice about when to cut down on the Nicotine.

I smoked analogs for a few years,
then switched to Snus (oral tobacco),
then to e-cigs.

When I switched to e-cigs, I started vaping mainly 24mg/ml juice and found myself sweating a lot and having lots of side effects.

I then went down to 11mg/ml juice and my anxiety levels + sweating + speedy uncomfortable feeling mainly went away.

Keep in mind that I generally vaped every chance I could, chain vaping as much as possible.

I bought DIY supplies and simply experimented cutting down the nicotine in my juice slowly. I would go down by 1 or 2 mg/ml every few days, and the only difference I noticed was the throat hit.

Eventually I went down to vaping 4mg/ml juice and had not a single withdrawal symptom along the way. Instead, my voice resonated more deeply than usual, I found myself more confident, and I experienced many positive benefits in general due to cutting down my nicotine.

My advice to you? Create a simple plan for cutting down your nicotine intake at regular intervals. If you feel withdrawals, go back to the last level you felt comfortable with for a while and reduce your nicotine at an even slower rate.

Lowering nicotine with e-cigs (in my experience) was incredibly easy compared to either cutting down on analogs smoked, using the patch, or chewing nicotine gum.

I read that Alan Carr book. I was feeling very confident after I finished it. So confident I drove to my sister's house and visited with her. On my way home, I had an HUGE urge hit me and was doing my best to make it go away, reasoning with myself (ok talking to myself) that I could do this. I was "reasoning" with myself so much to not stop at the convenience store that was just ahead, I almost had a wreck. It would have definitely been my fault!! I was so embarrassed and I was the only one in the car LOL. Course this wasn't funny at the time.

I have only been vaping seriously since Oct. 14 2011 and have been using 36 for first thing in the morning and the rest of the day 18. This morning I only filled my cart half full with 36 and after that filled one with 11. Going to work with that for right now.
