maybe your buddy sold you a knockoff charger ... thinking you wouldn't notice ... does he mostly sell cheap clones or high end gear?

its not a knock off, it was charging ive had it for months im charging in an outlet ive never used at my dads house and I picked it up to switch out batteries and it happened like that, im feeling like it was something to doing with that outlet thank heavens my battiers are safe lol

Well, the one that was in there during the incident might have damage to the cell. Peace of mind is priceless for me and I would junk those batteries.

I've used the Nitecore Intellicharger i4 quite heavily for about 4 months now. My son and I both share this charger. We charge 18350, 18490, and 18650 IMR batteries, often four at a time. I've had no issues with this charger, no heat at all. I check the charged batteries coming off the charger with our Provari's - always read out @ 4.2 volts.

The most reported battery incidents happen during charging batteries. The issue can be because of either the battery or the charger having a issue. This is why people warn not to leave batteries charging unattended if you leave your home or overnight. It sounds like the outlet you used had a short circuit and should be evaluated by a certified electrician.

thanks man for being helpful, my buddy owns the shop it's getting replaced I just didn't know if this was common or like a freak accident

I don't think it's common. They're pretty reliable chargers and I rarely see many negative posts about them. I wouldn't be concerned about getting another one.

Now if that one goes bad... your friend might have to look into where he's getting his stock. But probably a freak thing.

While I know that we're not using Li-Po chemistry batteries, I can't break the habit (and am not about to start either) of tucking my charger (which also happens to be a Nitecore Intellicharger i4) into a safety bag whenever I am charging.

I went a step beyond and put mine in a bag and a tin.

Why these crap chargers have become the darlings of the vaping community I'll never know. Oh yeah - I do know. You can buy them cheap on FastTech, and they hold two more batteries than a cheap Trustfire. They actually seem to be outstripping TrustFire for charger complaints on ECF.

Get an Xtar. If they come with a 2 year warrranty oh... I don't know... the manufacturer is expecting them to actually last at least two years.

My grandad told me all electronics work on smoke. Once the smoke leaves, you're screwed.

In the Amateur Radio community that is referred to as the "Factory Installed Smoke" when the factory installed smoke is released your warranty is void and the item no longer functions.

Dude ... that's a lot of searching you did to locate 11 chargers that may be defective ... out of umpteen 1000s sold.

Never had any problems with my nitecore intellicharger i2. Have only used AW IMR batteries from Provape. Wanted a display so I bought an efest LUC and that worked great also. The XStar VP1 struck my fancy and I'm lovin that thing. Readout to two decimal places, and choice of charging amps/speed. Have plenty of batteries so I always use it on 0.25 amps (the lowest) setting. It seems to be slightly more accurate than my LUC, as verified by my innova 3300.

Not to be rude, but

How many THOUSANDS are out there and haven't gone kapoof?

Just like with the occasional "the e-cig blew 4 feet of flame" reports...there are defects...but track record, and price...it really is a good deal for a charger that does what it's supposed to

But absolutely agree on the Xtar and other high end warranty chargers...you get what you pay for

I for one haven't had a problem with my Nitecore...others have had different experiences.
