Hello Everyone,

I just bought a Wotofo Flux starter kit for its simple operation, only VW mode. It takes 2 18650 batteries and I was looking for Sony VTC5A based on @Mooch recommendations but its sold out every where with the preferred vendors,
so I decided to look for 20AMP batteries, Samsung 25R was recommended by mooch as a next best allrounder in one of the charts. after some research I found that it has NCA chemistry.

NMC Snapshot NCA Snapshot

Based on the above snapshots I thought Sony VTC5 would be safe because of NMC chemistry. I found much of this info on internet so wanted to confirm with experts here before going ahead. Also I saw Mooch testing Murata VTC5 and was similar to Sony VTC5, do we have VTC5A from Murata available.

Also, wanted to know if anyone has used Wotofo Flow Pro tank, they says its compatible with Baby Beast coils, I bought some V8 Baby mesh coils but they don't fit as nicely as wotofo mesh coils.

Thanks

Mooch has said we shouldn't concern ourselves with 18650 battery chemistry, but rather focus on the specifications of the battery. Primarily the amp limit or "continuous discharge rate". If the specs of the battery are genuine and fit our requirements, then as far as we are concerned the actual chemistry type is irrelevant.

Murata recently purchased Sony's battery manufacturing rights. The two batteries are one and the same. It may take some time before the Sony/Murata varieties hit the store shelves. First batches are always reserved for the auto industry and portable power tool manufacturers. Over stock supplies eventually find their way to middleman battery suppliers and then to us.

VTC5A looks kinda pricey to me anyway.

I am switching over to Sanyo 3,400 over the course of the next year. Two of them (lower amp/higher mAh) makes sense for me.

Chemistry is interesting, staying safe is the no.1 goal.

I guess people buying the most powerful can be a good thing if they then buy a quality brand too.

I've used them all.... (apart from the insane Sony's with 1,600mAh)....
In a 2 x 18650 mod they are all not even half way up the chart for me. Depends how you wanna vape though. :thumb:

I turned down a 4 x 18650 mod the other day (free) - imagine 13,600 mAh-worth of mod.... at 8 or 12 watts!!

(Not that I vape at 10w, but you get my point)

There is no safe battery as misusing or mishandling any battery can cause problems. You can help to minimize your risks by not misusing or mishandling them.

There are small differences in the volatility of the chemistries we use. They are all better than what’s in a LiPo though, LCO chemistry. But they’re not as “safe” as the chemistry used in LMO or LFP batteries (which we don’t use).
