Hi kids,

I have long since forgone batteries and the recharging process. I'm in IT and never am far from a computer or a powered USB hub. I have an adapter in the vehicle so that's covered as well. I guess I just prefer the wire. The power is consistent, and seems much better.

Of course there are drawbacks. I pretty much have to give it up when outside. Not a big deal, I really only miss it when I'm out trout fishing. I bought a nice screwdriver for that though :)

But here it is, the ultimate solution for us tethered vapors. The portable USB battery.

My brother purchased this just prior to Christmas.

phone Charger | iPhone® Charger | iPad® Charger | Portable Battery Charger | ZAGGsparq 2.0 | ZAGG

It is meant to recharge portable devices, and has specially built ports for high transfer. Off of one charge, he can recharge his iPhone in 10-15 minutes. Several times without recharging.

It also has lower end USB ports for other things, such as USB e-cig adapters. He can go for days, if not weeks without it needing a charge.

Fits in the pocket, you're now mobile.

Don't pay the $99, open an account. Eventually, they will send you codes for up to 50% off.

Pays for itself.

thanks

I have a Kensington ultra portable power pack that works very well. I bought it at Best Buy for 30-something dollars. It works well with my V4L passthrough. I haven't been able to find a USB wall adapter though that will work with the V4L.

I also have an iPod USB wall charger that worked well with another company's passthrough, but it won't work with the V4L. The Kensington says it has 5 VDC output for the USB. The iPod one says it has a 5V output. It also has a lot of Chinese characters that I obviously don't understand. I don't know anything about herz and ohms and mahs. I just want a wall power source that works. V4L makes a car cigarette lighter adapter that powers their passthrough, but when I wrote to them asking what USB wall adapter would work they told me they didn't know of any. This does not make any sense to me.

I like V4L's passthrough very much - it's very well built and my first one lasted for 7 months. I use it for hours every day plugged into my computer. I'd feel better though if I didn't have to plug it into my computer. If anyone knows of a USB wall power plug that works with the V4L passthrough, I'd be grateful if you'd let me know.

Janet, the Kensington power packs have a max current output of 1.5A. Most cell phone or generic USB wall adapters have between 500mA and 1A output.

What you need is a 5V 2A USB wall adapter. Something like this......

2A USB 5V AC Charger (2000mA US Plug) - eBay (item 360320140801 end time Feb-14-11 12:35:34 PST)

Thank you so much! You don't know how much I appreciate your knowledge of electricity. I seem to have some kind of brain block with understanding it. Now I know what to get. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to me!
