I have no problem not vaping in businesses. I don't know why it seems like a lot of people can't go a couple of hours without vaping. There's no need to do it in the restaurant or the grocery store.

Not picking on Bamani by quoting her; just see that statement as a nice summary of many of the statements here that seem to be missing a larger point.

I love to vape. While at home, I often chain-vape. I never vape in a grocery store or a restaurant, because I just don't feel either a great need or the desire for an argument. (NO, vaping is NOT "more addicting" than smoking.)

Nevertheless, I deeply resent vaping bans, which are being enacted for no RATIONAL reason. Yes, it should be up to each establishment's owner to set such a policy or not; however, as an ex-smoker I am weary deep into my bones of being treated like a 3rd-class citizen. I think this may be a significant factor in the outrage many of us vapors feel at these knee-jerk bans: There is NO RATIONAL basis for them, and frankly we have already "been there, done that" and have NO desire to be treated that way again.

I will say that, were it my custom to frequent a coffee shop to relax and read or just people-watch while enjoying my java, I would flee from any and all coffee shops that decided to ban vaping (and let them know WHY). I WILL vape with my coffee, doggone it, and will exercise my right to not be irrationally bullied by not spending any money at a cafe which seeks to deprive me of that harmless pleasure.

As a vaper, I support that sign ... I'm sorry, but it just bothers me to see people vaping in restaurants or any random indoor public place ... The biggest reason is quite frankly, people who vape indoors are helping lead the charge against vapers. There are so many people out that that don't understand, don't care to understand and will never try to understand what vaping is. They are happy to believe the unfounded rumors (combined with their own bias) and will run straight to the store owner/manager to complain and threaten not to come back if they have to see people vaping. This sign is proof of that.

Also, IMO, it's a little childish. It doesn't matter the reason someone doesn't like vaping. If someone doesn't like it, they don't like it. They don't need a better reason than that. If they request you don't vape, don't vape ... Go outside or wait till you get in your car and vape to your heart's content. It's just the courteous thing to do.

I wish I could like this post about a hundred million times. I also don't vape in stores (other than *maybe* a very occasional stealthy puff) or restaurants, precisely because I don't want to get into argument with a stupid person about a deeply stupid "rule". It's PRECISELY the irrationality that offends me so deeply; it's the province of tiny minds who just want to boss and bully for the joy it gives them to deny someone else a pleasure. If someone offers me an actual reason -- allergy or whatever -- then I am not offended in the least, nor even greatly inconvenienced -- but when it's just "well, that's the RULE" -- that makes me want to tell them that rules are made to be broken, by those who don't care to live their lives by the senseless arbitrary rules of control-freaks.

Those of us who have been around from the time when everyone smoked everywhere may have a different view based on our experience with ANTZ.
We were mostly conciliatory and accommodating about smoking regulations at first.
It went like this, that is not so bad if we give them what they want they will go away.
Well they didn't, the demand just keep coming and each new demand is more outrageous then the last.

I have been pushed to the point of having my back up against the wall.

I really don't understand this argument....if the sign says, "No Parking", don't park there. If the sign says, "No vaping" don't vape there. What's the argument ? You WANT to ? So what ???? I was once at a store in New Orleans that had a sign that said "couples dressed alike will be denied entry". A couple wearing the same shirt and shorts were stopped at the door and the owner said "sorry" and pointed to the sign. He would NOT let them in. They griped, whined and moaned. He said "Nope". And refused entry. I gave him a high five.

If a store owner does not want us there, move on.

Heh, I agree; LMS62 and I don't always see eye to eye on everything, but that was truly amusing. I'm just scrolling along, shaking my head at some of the silliness herein, and snorted so hard that now I have to wipe down my screen. :D Which can be tricky with a touchscreen.

Andria
No worries on not seeing eye-to-eye on everything....because if we all did, life would get boring pretty damn quick. (on a side note, sorry about the screen, lol) :toast:

No because you are just an information acquiring plant by lobbyists in the USA to find information to pass onto your superiors about other avenues in this fight for control and regulation of this industry? Because you sure sound like one to me, but that could just be my opinion. :2c:

Ha-HA-HA-ha-ha-ha!
You caught him. Yeah! Ole steve is an infiltrated FDA agent. A double agent as he also works for big tobacco.
The guy goes to the Czech Republic and Russia a lot
so he may also be working for the Commies.

How is it that their rights are greater then another's rights.
Well that's kind of how businesses work. They have the right to allow or disallow anything in their own establishment.

I don't like NOT vaping, by your argument I don't need a better reason.
LOL ... Well no one's telling you not to vape ... just not around them while you're inside, which is not asking too much. Well I guess it's too much for some.

it's a little childish
I think people find courtesy the exact opposite of childish.

By the sounds of the posts here once is definitely not enough!!! The sheep are just being led down the road of over regulation without a fuss, lets just do as we are told because they say they don't like it and we do not want to cause a fuss. ... get some backbone people

There is no need to be so hostile. Look, you haven't even been vaping for a year. Most of us have been doing this for 2-5 years now and have plenty of experience with situations like this.
If a private business does not want you vaping in the building then you shouldn't do it. Public buildings and areas are a different matter, but in this case the owner of the business is completely within their right to not allow something in their business.

Respect the rules in someone else's private establishment or home or expect to be asked to leave.
