Thanks for the input everyone! I will respond to you all in one big post.
I had just the opposite.I used it in 2 recipes a while back, they were great at first, but after a few weeks, the dragon fruit got so strong that it was overpowering and was getting a sour taste. It may have been a reaction between the flavors, but it was definitely the dragon fruit that went south on me.
I find that quite interesting! My best guess would be the same as yours, some reaction between the flavors. The more I mix with it the more I feel like its a delicate flavor to play with. I have tried mixing it with sweeteners and a few other flavors like marshmallow, vanilla, whipped cream, and have not had a very easy time finding the right balance for any of them. Dragonfruit is a hard flavor to tame!
I have had the most enjoyment out of a straight up 12.5% Dragonfruit mix at 80/20 vg heavy. This mix was very enjoyable to me. It was vapable right after mixing and I think it got a tad better after 1 day of cap on steeping. That 15 ml bottle lasted about 2 days. I mixed up the 5,10, and 15% batches hoping to see how steeping effected the flavor and was shocked when it was almost indiscernible from unflavored
juice after 3 weeks. The 15% had a very little Dragonfruit flavor but the 10 and 5 was just a hint, barely different from unflavored ejuice.
For some reason, I'm over here wondering what a flavorless mix under the exact same conditions of steeping as the dragon fruit flavored mix would taste like...
I'm wondering if something else is behind it....?

I like the way you think. I will clear up some glassware and give this a shot. Thanks for the idea, either way I am now curious as what steeped unflavored juice taste like. I kind of like the taste of mostly vg unflavored ejuice so this will be very interesting.
I tried TFA dragonfruit. The flavoring smells good, but I could barely taste it at any % I tried - 5, 10, and 15. It ended up in the mystery mix with a couple other fails. Oh, and I tried it in a vg base (all vg except the pg in the flavor) and a 50/50 mix.
My taste buds are duds, so there are a lot of flavors that just don't pop enough for me.
I hear you, my taste buds are just now starting to recover and my vaping taste are changing due to that. When I began vaping I only enjoyed strong deep flavors and vaped on one called Irish latte almost exclusively for the first month or so. Fast forward to now 3 months in the future and that ejuice is way too strong for my enjoyment. How long have you been vaping? Do you still smoke analogs? Do you vape a lot of menthol per chance? A heavy menthol user told me it numbed their taste buds to other juices.
Have you tried distilled water for your VG mix? That's what I use 75%VG 25% distilled H2O. Seems to work pretty good.
I have tried adding distilled water to a few of my mixes but I have little experience with it. I have tried between 1 and 10% distilled as a thinner. I find it very useful but I have not grokked it in its fullness. I am still experimenting with it and trying to figure out how it changes the juice properties for me.
Are you mixing any EM, sacarlos, marshmallow, ACV, Lemon juice or smooth with it? If so how much? I've never tried the flavor but Is the scent right out of the bottle really strong and is the taste really strong when first mixed?
Adding to much flavoring and using to much of certain additives will contribute to muted or fading flavor. Or it could be one of those flavors that really need no steeping and need to be vaped right away. How does it taste right after mixing?
To me, the scent straight out of the bottle is not strong at all. Well defined and unique but not strong at all. Directly after mixing at 12.5% it is a lot of flavor but I still couldn't call it "strong". It taste great (to me) at 12.5% but it did get a little better after 1 day of steeping.
I have tried EM and marshmallow with it but have not had any mixes I would deem a success with these ingredients. The flavor itself is kind of sweet but not. If I was going to add any sweetener to it it would be very very little and this is coming from a guy who likes sweet vapes.
I surmise this flavor just needs to be vaped relatively fast after mixing. The mixes in question only had Dragonfruit flavoring, vg, pg, and nic in vg base. All of the ingredients were high quality and kept in proper storage conditions so I think it all comes down to the flavor itself.
