So if I buy some juice with 0mg nicotine, will it still have throat hit? If so, why buy any juice with any amounts of Nic in it?

The lower the nic content the less the TH will be however you can increase Th by adding a few drops of PGA or the highest proof alch you can get to it. If you think no nic juice can satisfy you then go for it. Many people here have smoked for years and are addicted to nic.

If you decide to go the 0 nic route www.tastyvapor.us sells what he calls a doubler which has twice the flavor, 0 nic 4oz which would be a real cheap way to vape 0 nic

Yes I am familiar with TV.
I asked because... I have seem some talks that high nic hurts the lungs blah balh. And... VG has small throat hit.. PG has higher Throat hit. It made me wonder. If I just get 100% PG, then will I get plenty of TH without nic.

Well if going 0 nic I would go for a high amount of pg say 90% VG creates more vapor so I kinda like it in my juice but thats me. I would probably go 90% Pg and add pga if I wanted more Th.

No place like ~/
I intend to avoid 100% PG liquids from now on. I got two 30ml bottles with no VG and they don't vape for crap and seem to gunk my atomizers up to uselessness within a ml or two.
My next order is going to be a (dekang?) VG vanilla and some ecopure english toffee which I believe is VG based as well. If it's missing TH I'll add some PGA and hope for the best.

UD.

If you are allergic to PG, or it irritates you, this will cause a TH, as will any irritating flavor. TH is from anything vapor that the lungs and throat are having a hard time with. Its a natural defense response of your body asking you "What was THAT??" Things that can cause the TH are: PG, alcohol, nic, a juice-starved atty coil, some flavors. Some people really want a lot of TH, but it is not necessarily something one should try to enhance a lot, IMHO, as it means the throat and lungs don't like it.

Where have you learned this information? Can you direct me to better understand that idea? It's hard to take the notion of "if your body doesn't like it.. your throat will feel a bigger hit." I mean no disrespect to your words. It is only that something that definitive, I'd like to read more and better understand it.

So far I'm not showing any irritation to PG (other than TH)

What is PGA ?

I am looking for a more scientific explanation of throat hit as well, but I think that Kurt's eplanation makes the most sense: what you are feeling is the irritation of your throat membranes by whatever it is you are inhaling. This idea has caused me personally to seek a combonation of vapourizer and liquid that produces as little throat hit as possible.

I watched a few of leaford's videos on youtube... in one of them he stops the demonstration because he has just smoked 20-30 hits on various devices and his throat is all irritated and he can't continue. In that video his voice is also very raspy and exhausted sounding. We know that leaford likes a good throat hit, so I feel this might add something to Kurt's theory.

One of my major reasons for wanting to quit cigs is to preserve my voice. Of course there are other major health benefits, but it is my feeling that a healthier vapour should be as cool, smooth, and non-irritating as it can be.

I feel I should mention I am a complete newbie and just joined this forum yesterday. If anyone has more information about this throat hit business, I would be seriously grateful if you would enlighten us.

All I can do is explain TH and its importance of it according to my experience. When I first started vaping it became noticable to me very quickly that smoke was much thicker than vapor. Vapor did not feel the same as smoking to me but I wanted to quit smoking. At that time it was very important to get a TH as it made the experience feel more like smoking an analog. I am now 10 weeks without an analog and I personally dont care about getting a TH anymore.

I believe Kurt is a chemist, and I know he is a smart guy.
I have not ever seen him say anything when he didn't think he knew what he was talking about.

But hey, you never know, right?
