For many people, TH and Nicotine go together.
What is the PG:VG ratio of the 0mg e-Liquid you have?
after a month of vaping exclusively, i've found that i like very low nic juice, and that i like a mix of 70%pg/30%VG, when i'm on juice with nic (3-6mg) i get a ton of TH, as far as zero nic, i get none, unless i jack up the voltage to 5.5+ on my lavatube, and it still isn't even comparable to the sting from nic....chances are, if you want to keep vaping zero, but miss the TH, you're gonna wanna get a mod.
The Nicotine and the voltage are the two main factors that produce throat hit. Nicotine content being the highest factor of the two. If you have 0mg Ejuice then you'll probably want to push it to the highest voltage, and lowest safe resistance you have to produce more heat to your vape.
I found just bumping it up to around 3mg made a difference to me. I think that would be an almost negligible amount, probably get more nic than that eating a pile of mashed potatoes.
I'd still add more PG and Heat, using lower ohm toppers, and higher voltage batteries.

Yes, it's typical. If you got a TH from 0 nicotine, we'd probably all be vaping it. 
isnt there an alternative you can add to the ejuice to create the throat hit you get with nic? a capsicum blend or something like that?
I smoke 0 nic, i havent had an analog in almost 3 years. i did, however, try my gfs and she has like 18mg nic. OMG did that hurt my throat haha. i def wasnt used to it.

ya agreed a few MG of myself i use 6 still gets a great throat hit so from a guy who only vapes and only smoked for the ability to keep my hands and mouth busy i could go without any nic BUT wouldn't be the same seems like I,m vaping air to me like breathing in near a grill and smelling the flavor its just not enough ive never had lower than 6 except 0 so cant tell you for sure about smaller amounts. i know you can always talk to the guys at my local shop i use Mr-E-Liquid they always do custom orders of whatever i want. great with mixing custom flavors too. but im sire theres gotta be something for that throat his beside nic out there..hmm caffeine?
Yes, there are things you can do.
One is to use the Highest PG Percentage you can handle. Another is to add PGA or Vodka to add an amount of TH.
