No Proof That Electronic Cigarettes Are Safe, Help Smokers Quit

Smokers who are looking to quit the habit or are just finding
healthier ways to get their nicotine fix may be shocked to learn
that electronic cigarettes do neither.

Despite lack of solid proof that e-cigarettes help smokers
kick the habit, some smokers have reported beneficial usage.

And, good thing you posted and got Dr. Polosa to post- the writer kindly changed the title of the article!!
"That’s very interesting, I am going to change the title to “alleged” report."

Happy New Year!!

Wow! Impact! Love it!

And here is another version of the story: Electronic Cigarettes May Not Combat Addiction, Report Says - ABC News

I left a couple of comments there, too, one of which takes to task those who try to shame users of low-risk alternatives by accusing them of still smoking and/or calling them addicts.

Roberta Pacifici's 91 page report (in Italian) is at:
http://www.iss.it/binary/fumo/cont/Rapporto_annuale_sul_fumo_2012.pdf

I don't know Italian, but the report appears to be exclusively about cigarette smoking (as I couldn't find any mention of electronic cigarettes).

If anyone knows Italian, please point out the pages of the report that are about e-cigs.

Riccardo Polosa has just informed me only one slide (slide 76) of Roberta Pacifici's power point report mentions e-cigarettes, and it only cites the awareness of Italians about e-cigarettes.

Either the previously posted (by me) report by Roberta Pacifici isn't the one cited in her claims to the news media (which would mean that Pacifici hasn't released her e-cigarette report to the public yet), or she has grossly misrepresented the findings of her power point presentation.
