You know how people are always supposed to be more cheery and giving during the holidays? That only seems to apply to friends and family. I've been in retail many years during the holidays, and we all dread it. Not because of the long hours, but because of the people.
I got Christmas Eve off by default this year, super happy about that! I usually do most of my Christmas shopping that day lol. Most of my shopping is done online around Black Friday, but it always seems that I have one more idea at the last minute or realize that I need something else lol.
I was at Walmart when it closed at 6:00 on Christmas Eve a few years ago, it was insane! Lines were an hour and a half long, there were still people wandering the store when I finally got out at 7:30, the lines were at least as long as they were when I first got in line, and there were hundreds of people trying to get into the parking lot and front doors! Lines of cars looking for a parking spot, and security guards at the doors barring people from getting in. I felt bad for the people, you just knew that they were needing gifts for their kids or something and couldn't get in to get them; and many probably saved Walmart until last because they thought they'd be open later than the other stores. I'll never make that mistake again! Lol!
I figured out that I'd only need to sell about 15 items to make as much as I'd make at work lol; how sad is that...
