I tried to get a copy of my Social Security card. I lost it years ago and just used my Military I.D. Now my Military I.D. has blanked out my SS# .
The Social security people want my birth certificate..that my Mom in her last years hid. I wanted to mail away for a new one and found out I need a social security number!!!!!
I have a box of my mom's papers, so I went thru them all piece by peice and found my birth certificate! It was in an old bank notice. She had hundreds of reciepts and banking things that I threw away. It was a miracle that this one was kept just in case I needed her account stuff.
So tomorrow I go to get the social security card so we can get homestead on this house.
This is such a pain..I will need all my marriage certificates and divorce papers (they say they need to trace my current last name from my maiden name)as well as birth and social and whatever else they want to get my Driver's licence. Thanks a lot Napolitano, Homeland and the former gov, of Fl. ! You can bet they don't have to go thru all this!

MK ...what kind of bull is that ??? We didn't have to do all that when we did our house !!! Is this part of all the new stuff ?? Dang ! And I sure as heck don't have my divorce papers from first marriage (from 31 years ago !!!!). What a crock !!!

I already printed out the form (they wanted my parents Social security #'s..lol!) I asked him..so you are the Social Security office..don't you already know? Besides this is silly, I got them off the internet! (again with the bug eyes).
If any of you go to the social security site..make sure you only go to the one with Patty Dukes picture on the front..it's a dot org. addy. There seem to be several and they try to make you pay $19.00 for the paperwork (1 page) and then they try to make you pay $29.00 to print it out! The thing is they want you to do the credit card BEFORE they show you the cost!
On the main site it's free. I saved myself the money by calling the SSoffice and having a hissy about the charges!
