Non smoker/vaper here, but not new to the world of vaping!

So, I'm sure my title confused you. Let me explain lol.

Years ago my mom (heavy smoker) my mom bought one of the $100 cigalike kits at a kiosk in the mall. you dripped your eliquid, put the "filter" back on, then pulled on it, and it lit the tip with an orange light. I didnt know any better then, but that thing sucked. I did note that you could "smoke" amazing flavors... like pineapple. From then on I thought ecigs were awesome.

Well obviously, it didnt help her quit smoking. Nor her husband. Years went by, and ecigs got better and better.

Well over a year ago I started dating a smoker. Well no offense to smokers, but it was like kissing an ashtray. :/ So for our first christmas I bought him (after some research) a reasonably priced starter kit, the Halo Triton. He loved it, and never picked smoking back up! From that day on he didnt smoke unless his battery dies at work or he runs out of ejuice, yes, easily fixable problems. But that was hardly ever. I even started vaping for a while because I loved the flavors. It didn't matter to me the nicotine content, I would vape zero preferably, but once I ran out of that I just vaped what we had. He started with 18 mg... but has moved up to 24 because recently, he feels like he isn't getting enough. We replace the coils, and the batteries, it's just he wants better.

So. We're looking to upgrade. :) I'll probably take over the Triton until I get what I want. I eventually want to get some type of rebuildable, because I love tinkering. (Yes, I'm a non smoker who wants to vape. It's like dessert without calories! Plus, it's just cool. I know there are others like me, so enlighten me, how many here never were smokers???)

That brings me to now. He wants to upgrade. So, I talked to a Youtuber who does reviews and is knowledgable, and he recommends (along with a few other similar products) the 20w Eleaf iStick with the Aspire Nautilus Mini. What's everyone think? Is this a significant upgrade? Or will my boyfriend be again feeling like hes not getting enough? I trust the Youtuber's opinion, I just want to know what others think too. :)

Let me know what your opinions are!

Hello and welcome to the forum huskylover. Glad to have you here!:)

The iStick and mini Nautilus with the new BVC's is a great vape. As to whether it's enough depends on what your boyfriend is looking for. What does he not like about his current setup? Not enough vapor? Too restrictive or too airy of a draw?

Hi and thanks for replying! Well, I just asked him and he said its too restrictive and not enough vapor. But when I asked him before he said its like hes not getting enough. He does long slow pulls like youre supposed to. He is constantly having to vape to get his nic fix even on 24 mg of Nicotine. Thats pretty high, and its not like he smoked two packs a day or anything so 24 mg is enough. Idk, weve cleaned his Triton, even bought new batteries, stronger ones. We replace his coils every two weeks or sooner if needed. He wants something that has a better "hit" I guess. I'm not a smoker so idk if Im explaing right... lol

Welcome it's nice to know there is another never-smoker here. A rebuildable will for sure give him a bigger/better "hit". Its a bit spendy but my newest setup is a Sigelei 100 Watt and a Tobecco Plume Veil and it hits like a tank and produces awesome clouds. I vape Zero nic but I have taken big enough hits to make myself cough so I am sure it'll work for him too. You'll find all the info you need here on this forum.

well the problem with that is... he doesn't want a rebuildable YET. He wants to ease into that, he doesn't mind mech mods but as far as building coils and wicking, he feels he wants to vape with just a vv/vw with a non rebuildable tank or a tank that you dont have to build on yet that you can get replaceable parts first then build on it later... (pardon if this is NOOB talk, if such a thing doesn't exist LOL)

But do tell, if you guys think that he's just not going to get what he wants from the combination of ELeaf iStick/Mini Nautilus.... let me know because I'll convince him to learn about building and get him that kind.

I second the iStick and mini Nautilus combo.

This is what I use 95% of the time. I have other stuff, but it's just for fun. (see my signature...)

I find a replacement coil lasts about 2-3 weeks and I run two tanks, so perhaps 1-2 weeks per coil is what I get. Some people think this is still too expensive (compared to a fully rebuildable atomizer) but I really can't take a huge mod and tank into work.

Besides, 1 coil is the same price as 5 cigarettes in England. That is cheap enough for me to run. :)

The iStick and mini Nautilus (or full size Nautilus) is a great upgrade. Here's Matt vaping a mini Nautilus on an rDNA. It's a 30 watt devise BUT Matt is vaping <20 watts. The iStick would give you a similar experience.

The other thing your boyfriend could look into is Whole Tobacco Alkaloids juice. For some people it has made the difference in helping them quit. There are other components in tobacco besides nicotine that can be addictive.

Its nice to see another non smoker vaping. I have never smoked in my life- maybe 5 analogs my whole life. But my sister and her hubby were vaping and they got me a starter kit- i am hooked! I love the flavor and clouds and relaxation of it!

Good luck finding a good upgrade for yall. My sister recommend me getting a nautilus or if i wanted to really move up the aspire sub ohm and atlantis. I opted to go big or go home! Lol

My first build went awesome. I did however watch a bunch of videos before I even started. Honestly I am a mechanical type who loves taking things apart and putting them back together so building was easy for me. The hard thing for me is not to want to rebuild after a couple of days, or hours. After startup costs rebuilding will be cheaper just because you can pick up a 100 feet of Kanthal from Amazon for about $7 and the cotton is only like $3 from Amazon. I bought my Kanthal and Cotton about 5-6 months ago and I am slowly coming to an end on the Kanthal but its not going to be very soon. You can go over board with rebuilding though. Like buying every size and style of wire and the same for cotton. I found something that works on the first try luckily. I will probably pick up some bigger gauge Kanthal here soon though, just because I can.
