My ProVari did the trick like no other quitting method out there; it eased me off cigarettes before I even knew what was happening. That was quite a surprise to me and to people who know me who always said, 'you'll never quit.' But now these friends pester. Some things they say are: 'Why do you need that thing?' 'Why don't you just do what I did and just quit?' 'How long are you going to be on...that thing?' 'How much did that thing cost?' followed by, 'are you crazy?' Then there are others who quit using the toxic pills that big pharma put out, and those people recommend that I would be happier using those despite the death warning in the specs. Others who have quit but have gained 50 pounds recommend that I do what they did even though I remain the weight of my youth. And so, by listening to the peanut gallery out there, I understand that we are not understood and that there are many who will align themselves with the pushers who would like to legislate us back to gum, pills, food, and patches; things that are understood.

Most of the people that have seen me vaping are just curious. I get a ton of questions. Especially because I am carrying an svd with an 18650 and a large tank on it. Can't tell you how many times I've heard "is that a hookah?".

I haven't had anyone say anything negative... Yet. But, when they do I'll just have the "to each their own" attitude. It works for me and many others, that's good enough for me.

Congrats, time is on your side on this one as the youth movement to vaping will tip the scale of common sense very quickly on this point.I personally perdict by next christmas the scale will have snowballed so much smoking will look like driving a Hummer now does. When general views change it is fast.4 years back vaping looked like the smallest sect of nic users ,it was funny.

I'd have two words for them: "Bugger off!"

Yep, and they ask you if you're crazy? Sheesh!

I don't know about you, but I enjoyed smoking. I just didn't enjoy the toxic side-effects. Now I enjoy vaping without the majority of those side effects.

'Why do you need that thing?'
I don't but I enjoy it. Why do you ..........?

'Why don't you just do what I did and just quit?'
I'm not you. I do things MY way. Do you like to do things your own way?

'How long are you going to be on...that thing?'
As long as I enjoy it. How long are you going to ......?

'How much did that thing cost?' followed by, 'are you crazy?'
They make em for less. I liked this one. How much did that..... cost you?

Gee, sounds like you need a better set of friends :p. I guess I don't understand how negatively critical some people can be. Either that, or pretend to listen, and nod in agreement. Why the heck should anyone care what you spent on your Provari? Are these the same type of people that buy the new 5s model cell phone to replace the 6 month old "5" version that is exactly the same? Now that's some crazy waste of money, lol! To each their own, indeed!

OP--good for your friends quitting their way, and great that you've found the way that works for you. Having the freedom of choice is grand, ain't it?

I've heard nothing but positive from all of those who know me. My daughter even bought me a Tesla for Christmas! Folks that see me with mine at work (and I have about 6 different mods that I bring with me everywhere I go) treat me like Nate, where can I buy them, do you like them as much as smoking, are they expensive, etc., etc.

If I ever encounter such folks I'll just smile and tell them that I smell better, feel better, and don't have nasty ciggy breath that smokers do.

It looks to me like people think vapers and smokers are one and the same?!

Ask your "friends"; "how long are you going to be obese"?, "why do you need that Porsche", How much did that cost", "are you delusional"? the list could go on..........

On handling the friend with the porsche... Be very very nice to them.. Especially if they are smokers.. Since you vape and they smoke you could benefit from their will.

Meh, just ignore it. People are always looking for a reason to gripe. I just ignore anyone that rags me, unless they're in my face. Then it's a calm and logical shut down. Or at times I will say "you're being ignorant" in a Micheal Jackson tone of voice. Works quite well ;)

Gawd Help Me to say nary a word! But the MJ voice is a good idea, 'yes, I have some milk and some little cookies, and my vape and it's very nice.'

Non-smokers mostly hate ecigs. Reformed smokers hate ecigs even more and are "holier than thou" with all ecig users.
The government hate ecigs, the pharmaceutical industry hates ecigs.
Everybody hates ecigs.

(apart from (thankfully) some of the population who are totally ambivalent or are unselfish/egalitarian)

I say, ecigs are the most amazing harm reduction invention ever. Vape on! :)

I'm gonna Vape On! And then when the non-smokers/formers are preparing my casket for me, they can throw in my ProVari, set on 4 OHMS with a fresh new carto on it, and the homemade juice I will have left behind (it will be on the counter.)

I just tell them straight out "because i don't want to quit smoking but I do want it to quit killing me., im glad you did but I actually enjoyed smoking before the health issues became apparent and now I have found a way to keep enjoying what i liked about smoking without killing myself", thanks for your concern but worry about yourself please.

To anyone who mindlessly parrots media disinformation about vaping, I have settled on the reply ...

"Why do you like tomatoes ?"

Maybe, just maybe, it will stimulate some independent thought and meaningful research, before the next encounter with that person ...

At the very least, it will leave them puzzled long enough for me to put some distance between us. I don't move as fast as I once did ...
