Non Sound Sensitive Autos?

Does anyone make a non-sound-sensitive auto-switch battery (ie: vacuum switched rather than mic-switched?).

For something made to be used in places where smoking is prohibited, bars and clubs being one of the most common such places, the sound-triggering is very impractical. i'm a dj and am brokenhearted that i can't take my new 401 to the clubs. i only now found out about this phenomenon and none of the mfgr's or sellers warn about it, not even as a selling point for the manuals, which would have swayed me to go that way had i known, or at least get one of each.

i know manual switched will get around this problem but i like the simplicity and cigarette-like feel of the autos.

i guess i could wear a shoulder holster for the battery pack, hehe.. that would be a real conversation piece, everybody duck when i draw the cig :)

it doesn't have to be a 401 though, just wondering if there was any such critter made. i understand vacuum switches were the original technology but most have switched to mics now.

UPDATE: just heard back from Heaven Gifts - their 401 batts are sound activated (he called it an "airflow sensor", and called pneumatics a "pressure sensor" to give another example of the terminology some distributors may use).

said they weren't extremely sensitive to sound but could be activated by "big sound" (see avatar ;)).

My 901 is a pressure switch, you may want to look into those. It has never turned on from noise or vibration. My home is full of loud noise (loud music, loud video games, loud children) and it has never turned on without me sucking on it :).

ah thanks Moon, a 901-type cig was next on my list to check out (yeah, i'm gonna be onna those ;)). The J118/L88b Bandit was mentioning are 901 types and are touted as having "improved" switches according to emsmokeronline's site, hopefully the mic switch isn't their idea of improvement but i'll look into it.

do you know if all the classic 901's are pressure-switched?

so i got some peneumatic 401 batts from esmokershop, no sticking so far, a lil harder draw (seems to have a couple more threads and slightly thicker connector post) and you have to pull harder to trigger them so you can't do the slow, easy pull that garners more vapour from the standard batts (and no pretty gold deco) but they'll do me for places where the sound trigger is problematic. good to have around but the newer model does run a lil better. but nice to have something i can take to clubs without having to fuss with.

I use an 801 from awesomevapor.com with pneumatic batteries

seems like the sound-activated batts are a recent development, wonder if newer 801's and 901's use them too or if they still use the pneumatics?

i'm hoping even if the industry does all shift to the sound-triggered ones that they'll perfect the software to distinguish between the sound of a draw and environmental sounds.

talked to Tony at Modern Vapor the other night (sells the Sidesho, which is basically an improved 401, gorgeous cig with larger cart and PCC, and the "902" aka J118 which is an updated 901, not sure of the latter's mechanism but the Sidesho's sound-activated) and he's gonna take one out to the clubs this week and report back to me on them. says he hasn't had problems with them so far in tests like tapping them on tables etc but the club test will be the biggie.

I believe that my 801 is pneumatic as well. Truth to tell...I LOVE it. I have not noticed any activations at all from loud music. Can't test too much in the Jeep...with no doors...or top...and driver's side speaker blew out a month ago [sigh]

Had the Blu [shudder] "before I REALLY started". Hated it for exactly the main reasons you are stating here. Reacts to loud noise in the cars, turns on from bumping into a jelly bean in my pocket, turns on if mouse farts in general vicinity. Now YOU go into a club with an unstable reactor sitting in your pocket.

801 came fromZhengzhou Moor Technology Co.LTD as part of a larger shipment. The site is horrendous with very little english and no prices. Don't sweat it....talk to Henry at sales@ecigarettesales.cn He'll bend over backward to take care of you.

If anyone does take me up on ordering from them, please let me know. There are a few things I'd like to order and split the shipping costs.
