Hi everyone I'm Jen from Kansas City. I'm so happy I found this site - I stopping smoking 1/20/11, the day when when best friend 38 yrs old) was diagnosed with COPD (in hopes she would follow suit). We started smoking together when we were 14 yrs old. She's never forgiven me for teaching her how to inhale! We have been smoking for 25 years! Holy cow when you say that outloud it's scary!
I had been on the patch for 3 weeks - it worked with a lot of willpower however I gained 10 lbs within those 3 weeks since I traded eating for smoking LOL. I started searching for solutions and found this forum! Haha who would have thought! Anyway I started vapeing last week with a Joye510 mega & CAN NOT wait to get all my ejuice flavors I ordered in the mail - I went a lil crazy on it.
OMG it is so awesome!! My best friend however continued to smoke :( Until I introduced :vapor:to her. Her new e-cig should arrive in the mail anyday now. Now we will be hot babes sitting on the beach vapeing e-cigs instead of being hooked up to an oxygen tanks when we get older

Jennisc2,
I'm right with you...last week stopped cigarettes cold turkey and the e-cig has been the easiest way for me. I've done the patch, gum, hypnosis, accupuncture, Chantix, timers (that tell you when you can smoke)...nothing works like the e cig. So far so good. No cravings and no grumpy mood unlike with the other methods.

There's so much information and support on this forum.

Liberty Flights also has a nice intro to vaping to help answer questions.,,

How are things in KC? I grew up around there and still miss it. I will be quitting because of my husband's health as much as for concerns for my own well-being. I have been a heavy smoker for decades and decided the handwriting would soon be on the wall for me so it would be best to take control of the situation now...before it was too late. I am still researching e-cigs and trying to sort through the TONS of information but would love to know how everyone is doing and what advice they would like to share. Thanks!

That is a great story!! I'm so glad you found vaping and ECF. Did you get juice with nicotine, or 0mg?

It's wonderful to hear that your best friend has decided to give this a shot also. It sounds like she could benefit greatly from it!

I got juice with 18mg of nicotine and it seems about what I like. Of course when I first got it I purchased the tabacco flavored and I just got some flavors in the mail yesterday. I like them so much better

I tried the hypnosis as well. Didn't work. Your absoultly correct about the no cravings as I still had them with the patch. When I was in the car driving was the worst!! I would stop and the gas station & grab a bag of chips or something to munch on and before I new it I couldn't fit in my favorite jeans. Thanks for the info - I see alot about Liberty Flights I will have to give them a try

Several new people from the KC area on the board lately, maybe we can get a group together sometime. My best to you!

Ohh that would be awesome!! So far since I have started vaping I have turned a few of my fellow co-workers onto checking into it. They are super envious that I can sit at my desk and smoke & they have to go out and brave the cold LOL. Maybe we could start on FB?

KC has changed a lot in the past several years. You would not recognize downtown - major facelift with the Entertainment district. Good luck with your quest on finding an ecig you like. I took advice from the vets here on what to purchase for my first "beginer" ecig. (joye510)mega. I got the mega because it has a longer battery life then the reg 510.
I agree it's very overwhelming with all the infomation out there but don't let it discourage you. Check out youtube videos on "how to's" as well . I love my ecig and can honestly say I NEVER go back to smoking again. Vaping is too much fun with all the flavors etc. Plus I don't smell, it's way cheaper, etc etc. My boss has been smoking for almost 50 years and she is also serously considering the ecig now after trying mine.

Good Morning Jen
Congratulations on being smoke free, the Ecig's really do make such a difference. I received my first kit 1/28/11 and have been off analogs from that point until now. I was concerned that COPD would be in my future but could never achieve what the Ecig has allowed me to do with such ease.

It is exciting that I have 3 friends that have purchased equipment and are attempting to join the vaping revolution and improve their quality of life as well.

Great story. I have been smoking since I was 10 years old. I may say all my life. mom smoked when she wass carrying me, back in those days, the dangers of smoking were only starting to be understood. So, I basically smoked my entire 56 years on the planet. No gum, no patch came close to getting my 2 1/2 pack a day addiction controlled.

13 days ago I started vaping. Day 11 tocacco free. As I get the right combination of PV's, nicotine levels and flavors down to my sweet spot, it's only getting easier. I WAS the person who could NEVER quit. Here I am.

VAPE ON!

Congrats, Jenn from another KC Area Noob.

At least you were smart enough to come here first, before buying hardware.
Eight days off analogs here. I too was able give them up completely on day one. Fortunately, vaping seems to feed my addiction AND my habit. I am not looking back.

There do seem to be a number of us from the KC area on here. KC Vapers Club, anyone?

Cheers!

I'm in!
There is a Show Me State Vapors group on this site, but I don't think there has been any meet-ups.
