I recently found out about ecigs when the gas station I frequent started selling gamucci products. I purchased the mini starter kit. This isn't gonna work for me. It tastes awful!! A few weeks later I ran into a kiosk in the mall selling fifty one... It's just as bad. Light smoke and bad taste. Nothing like a cigarette. Anyone have any experience with these products as compared to the others I've been reading about? I'm considering ordering a joye 510 or a vapor king.... Any advice?

Oh dear. It appears as though you've been hit by bad companies twice!

There's a lot of them around, especially stuff you find in stores or at kiosks. They're mostly over-priced, too. I haven't heard anything good about Gamucci, and most kiosks are extremely over-priced, sometimes with bad products to boot.

I haven't tried the 510, but I do have a "Vapor King," which is a KR808D-1. I didn't buy it from Vapor Kings, but same model.

I LOVE it. I haven't touched a cigarette since it arrived. Really good throat hit, nice flavor, and good battery life.

It's probably a bit longer than the ones you've tried so far (so is the 510), but it's worth it for the increase in performance.

I would highly recommend it. It's really a prefect newbie device. The cartomizers are pretty easy to deal with for beginners - they can be refilled and reused, but it's as simple as taking off the used-up one and popping on a new one. No dripping, and the cartomizers hold more liquid than cartridge models do, so they last longer between refillings.

However, where most people say the 510 is better is in vapor production. I do get good vapor from mine, but I get a lot more when I use a juice with a bit of VG in it. So if you really want lots of vapor, and you're interested in a Vapor King, go for juice with some VG.

Both of these will be better than the ones you've tried. My recommendation would go to the 510 or an eGo if you want to spend the extra bucks. As for taste, none of the prefilled carts are going to be that wonderful. You might want to try getting some good juice (see the multitude of recommendations around here) to refill the carts you have before getting another unit.

...and welcome to ECF!

The KR808s (2 piece, battery and carto) are really nice for starting out in my opinion...or even a 510 with carto. I recently got a 510 after having a KR808 for a little over a month, and I just can't get the hang of an atty...and the carts I just didn't like, even when filled with good juice. Dripping was a little better, but with little kids, I don't want to constantly be fussing with a bottle of nic-juice.

I just ordered an Ego, but plan on using 510 cartos instead of the atty.

Welcome, and congrats on starting vaping.

Both the 510 and the Kr808 are great models to start with....and helped so many people make the switch over.

It may not be the last model you ever buy (don't most of us wish!) but it'll get you started!

Keep posting, peruse the forums and have fun!

I'd highly recommend the eGo over the 510. The main reason being the extended battery life. I ran out of batteries on day 2 of vaping and found myself going back to analogs until I got things recharged. Or, if you go with the 510, at least pick up a USB passthrough so you can vape as much as you want when a computer is handy.

I did the same thing you did. I had a 51 kit and an Njoy kit. Both were disasters. I read through this forum and ended going with the 510. It has been amazing. There are good places to go for accessories and I have begun building my kit with differenty kinds of juice, attys, and batteries. For me it's been a lifesaver. I haven't had an analog ciggarette for over two months now.

Stick with it. Stay off the nasty analogs. You will find something here that works. I smoked for 38 years and tried everything to quit. Nothing worked until the Joye 510.

I'm a waiter so I don't have a lot of time to mess around tinkering. Either I take anus to work or these crappy ecigs I bought. The ecigs hold the withdrawals off. I just want a cigarette as soon as I walk out because of the taste I assume. After researching it seems the 510 takes a LOT of tinkering.. Really, I just want the closest tasting, and feeling thing to a cigarette I can get with the least trouble... Haven't read much on this ego thing.. Guess I will. Oh yeah, I would like to be able to blow smoke rings too.... Thanks for all the advice! I've smoked cigarettes so long they really hurt my lungs... I've gotta figure out something..

If you want the simplest vaping experience, you probably want a KR808D-1. Read more about it in The Wonderful World of Vaping thread.

You can get cartomizers for the eGo which, aside from not having to push a button, is what makes the KR808 "the simplest." The eGo is much bigger than a cigarette though, so if that feel is important to you, the KR808 is probably a better option. Here's a video describing the eGo (branded as the Tornado by Totally Wicked)
