You can wait for it to blink, but over time you'll just know when they're starting to get low & check. Lithium batteries don't develop a 'memory' from being charged & they don't like to be drained too far down. The Provari will cut them off before they get too low, but it's still better for the battery to pull them at 3.5-3.6v... which is shortly before it will start blinking at you.
