Ok, it finally arrived today! WOW is it awesome!!! i got the 801, Put in 4 drops of some Ecopure methol...Nice HIGH hit! Felt so satisfying!

I understand that the Prodigy is mainly used for dripping if i am correct? ( meaning, no carts that are filled with that filler that you drip the juice on, these mainly are used to drip the juice directly onto the atty, correct? )

anyways, i take about 4 hits or so, then i get a HUGE vaping hit of what taste like burning something. Am i doing something wrong here? or do i need to drip every 4-8 puffs?

also, does the prodigy allow for a cart to be added? say like the 510, where i add some juice to the cart and can puff on it like 15-25 times?

i was just curious, Either way though i love this thing. I just want to make sure i am doing it right here and also if using carts ( so i can puff longer without refilling longer ) is possible.

Also, Can you OVER CHARGE the batteries and damage them? I sometimes like to charge my batteries at night when i go to bed ( so they will be on charge for like 8 hours ) would this be BAD? and if so, what is the ideal charging time?

thanks!!!!

hey maf ...

happy it got there safe and sound. Dripping vs. Carts on the Prodigy is a controversial subject. I personally only drip, but there are some users who swear by cartridges. Try using a cart, fully filled, and see how many hits you can get from it before refill :)

And yes ... If your drags are 4-5 seconds long, 4-8 hits with a 510 is about the max. If you shorten the draw, and inhale an extra second or two after you release the button, you may be able to stretch out a couple extra hits!

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

This is what I do:

I have a timer that I plug my charger into and set it for 3 hours. Set it and forget it. It automatically shuts it off and you don't have to worry about it overnight.

You can get these chargers at Home Depot or Walmart for about $5. It has a dial and a couple of clip thingies, one red and one blue. I only use the off one.

Maybe someone here can post a picture of it.

If not PM me and I will do it when I have a chance.

Holy crap Cash! 4-5 second drags! I was a heavy smoker myself, and I smoke other things as well daily :), and no way could I take a 5 second hit off this prodigy, I take 1-2 second hits and its plumes! You must have deep lungs Cash, lol.. I also use dura (510) cart with my 901 atty's, its an awesome combo for the Prodigy.. I can go an hour before needing to refill, have not counted the actual puffs, but I vape pretty regularly..

EXCELLENT advice Paul ... I never thought about that .... Just the extra security knowing it will shut off !!!! Great idea!

LOL ... I take 5-6 second hits on the 801 @ 6v .... 901 and 510's on the other hand ... I can only go 3-4 seconds @ 5v & 6v .... Juice tends to last longer @ 5v though.

However, I am personally back down to 3.7v .... been taking it easy the last few weeks. Protege + 510 .... I enjoy it .... and I never figured I would enjoy 3.7v again, but I do :)

That's a good safety valve. But, you will notice that if you re-energize your charger after the timer has shut it down (in the morning, say) the e-cig battery will take more of a charge. Once the 110 volts has shut down the battery *tries* to energize the charger, thus reducing that full charge. How much so varies, I've found. Still, I like the safety end of your idea over a slightly less than fully charged battery. Good idea. =)

I ordered an 801 adapter and atty from ya earlier today Cash, was gonna throw a 30ml bottle of cashcap 24mg in there, bit it would have upped my shipping 5 bucks. Anyways, lovin the battery life on this Prodigy, 8:20 am I put in fresh ones, and its goin strong at almost 4pm. I assume the 801 must burn cooler than 901's, seeing as your taking longer drags etc? I ordered the 801 for mainly away from the house, I have carts comin from another source, 1 801 cart full and fresh batts should be great for 3 hour trips away from home, nothing extra needed.

I use the timer on the top left of your link, but I pull out the blue clip and only use the red, therefore, when it shuts off, it doesn't come on again. So what you are saying is that having the batteries in the charger with no current, drains the battery to a degree?

Paul

I just checked my batteries after sitting 4+ hours in the charger unplugged and one is at 3.5v and the other is at 3.4v. I wonder how long it would have to sit in the charger for a noticeable drop?

I'm not familiar with the Prodigy batteries and charger but my batteries charge up to about 4.18 volts on average. The easy test is to check yours (via volt meter) soon after the LED goes green.

An 801 cart is only good for about an hour of heavy vaping before topping off. BE112s from Bestecig work best for carts.

Better bring a little juice with you too.. The Prodigy is a juice hog. More vapor means more juice. Lots more juice.

I have a 1200 ml jug of 36mg juice, and a big bottle of vg, I just like to add other flavors once in awhile and mix and cut.. Im on day 2 of prodigy, and I believe Im vapin about 1ml more a day, well worth the trade off for ease of vape and batt life.

Just sitting at home vaping normally, I can go an hour with my dura cart. The 801 carts are much bigger, and the 3 hour trips away from home I am talking about are on the bike, would be vaping less than at home. But thanks for the heads up..

I'm in kinda the same place as the OP I just got my Prodigy a few days ago but I did oreder carts from Awsome Vapor with some juice and it works great for dripping, but it doesn't wick for *****. I was wondering if any of the cart mods work on the 801? or which work the best? I don't know what kind of filler this is that came with my carts I was thinking about trying the mesh teabag thing or the aquariam filter stuff and I don't mind expeirmenting but I was hoping someone could point me in a good direction. Maybe I should order different carts? Such as the BE112 that Brian suggested.

I bought a ton of 801 carts from e-cig.com back when I first started vaping. I have been using the current one for 2 months without issues. The high bridge atomizer that comes with the Prodigy doesn't work well with them though. Your best bet would be to switch a low bridge atomizer first Then decide if you need new carts.
