I just recently got into mech mods a month a go I have a k100 with an IGO-w. But I'm seeing these different types of mech mods. Like hades, cronus, evo. My question is.... whats the difference? I was reading the descriptions and it seems like the only difference is the design. Do they perform any different than the k100s?

Aside from looks, price, "feel", there's the quality of machining, materials and durability of a mech tube mod. Then there's the consideration of "voltage drop". How much of the energy that the battery is or could be releasing is actually heating your coil VS how much is getting eaten up or impeded by the materials and contacts in your mod. Last I looked, the k100 had a very respectable score for v-drop.

Short answer: no worries. your good.

OH, btw: those are inaccurate layman's terms; but you get the idea.

Functionally the K100 is on par with any other mech mod. But it doesn't have any fancy engravings, polished or brushed finishes, serial numbers or floating 510 pins, so you can buy one for $25 instead of $250.

Be sure to put a very small dab of Noalox on all the threading (except the 510 connector) to keep them running smooth for a long time....:)

Thats it man. A mech is just an empty tube for a battery with an atty connection on top.

You can spend $30 on your regular Chinese-made thin metal tube, or you can get some really insane designs out there made of higher grade materials with higher grade machining.

Just remember, as with anything, you pay for what you get.

I've heard the K100 described as fugly, but never as having a thin tube or poor machining.

Not referring to the k100, just aluminium Chinese tube mods in general. Some are better than others.

Mechanicals have a relatively limited usage. Their function is only going to be as good as your atomizer build. Without something like the Kick 2 to regulate your vape, the point before it falls down to 3.7 volts and gives you average performance comes pretty fast.

Whats left is aesthetic. I've only seen it fit to purchase two mechanicals. One is the Magneto, which for the price is an awesome mod. And the other is V3 Flip, whose aesthetic speaks for itself.

When I take the Flip out of the house with something like the Magoo on top at 1.1, and a Kick 2 for regulation, I get as good of vape as any vv/vw mod, that lasts all day, and it looks good doing it. I get complete strangers coming up to me asking if they can look at it.

If a certain mod fits your aesthetic, then that's the mod for you. Regardless who makes it or how much it costs.
