We'll my wife took ill and will need 3 operations over the next 2 months and I will be a one income family and will be scrimping badly. My question is I have 28 gauge kanthal wire I have braided it and am only getting 1.0 ohms can I braid it a third time so I can use it in my svd. Also can I use cotton balls as I have a lot of them. I have to save money and will probably need it for juice as I have already been vaping more and can only assume I will be vaping even more than I've been. Maybe I will go back to analogs part of the time until she gets better. Thanks for the help in advance.

Braiding it again wouldn't increase resistance. It would actually decrease it. Try using a single strand of wire and make sure your resistance is over 1.2 ohms. You can use cotton. It might be a good idea to boil it before you use it as wicking material
What are you rebuilding? And why are you braiding/twisting your kanthal? (this seems like a fad to cheaply duplicate flat ribbon kanthal but it seems like it has gone on the wayside recently as it simulates dual coil builds but without the extra wicking and air flow) more turns will give you a higher resistance and yes, I use cotton balls for my wick in my drippers because it is so quick and easy to change when I change flavors

Sorry to gear about you wife's surgery. Hope she recovers quickly. If you want to save money go to single stand micro coils and always buy plain vg from Wally World and cut you liquid down. You loose a little flavor but can stretch you budget. I diluted my 12 to 6 with my dripper because it hits like a train.

If you build with a single strand of 28 gauge, do about 10 wraps on a 1/16th drill bit, and you will be around 1.2-1.3 Ohms. Do 1 or 2 more wraps if you feel you need more resistance. Of course, this is for a traditional micro coil which will need to be squished a bit to give you the best performance. You can easily use cotton balls for your builds, just be sure to prime your wick with e-juice before assembling if you are using a tank system.
