Hey guys! I'm new around here, I'm a hookah enthusiast but I would really like something I can carry around with me and I've used lots of vapes and I love them. I'm confused about a few things though and please try to dumb these things down for me. First off I do know which kind of tank i want which is a billow (currently out of stock on eccigity) but I am having trouble deciding which mod to purchase. I read people saying the variable voltage box ones are better and then others saying that the regulated voltage ones are best but I mean it's obvious that anything variable is better. I was looking at the provari zombie edition which I think is variable and it looks awesome. Are these two compatible? And I'm looking for the best battery or best average battery and charger there is, could anybody point me to that?

Thanks!

Hi

You can use the Billow tank on a ProVari 2.5 (which includes the Zombie addition). You can use any topper with a 510 connector on a Provari, as long as the coil is 0.9Ω or higher. ProVape recommends 3.0Ω for best performance, but since it has variable voltage you have a range to choose from.

There really is no "better" when it comes to comparing devices that have little in common beyond being a power source.

All variable voltage/variable wattage devices are regulated. That means once you set the power level you like, it will stay there until the battery runs down to the point it can't produce that level anymore. A fixed voltage regulated device operates in the same way, except that it has a preset voltage, like 3.7v for example.

With unregulated devices (including mechanicals), the power output is dependent on the battery level. The battery comes off of the charger at ≈ 4.2v and the voltage produces diminishes as the battery discharges. With some mechanicals you can use a "Kick" which is a small disk put in the battery that turns it into a variable wattage device.

What kind of vaping are you interested in?

"All variable voltage/variable wattage devices are regulated" and a good place to start. What is your budget? A ProVari is high end Mod.

+1 for that.

Without a budget it is very hard to make a recommendation.

He said he wanted to use a Billow RTA, which would require more power than a Twist, but I think the Variant is overkill. Just so you know, FastTech has the Variant for under $200.00, but the matching fire extinguisher is $499.99, so it comes out the same. You don't have to buy the fire extinguisher, but it's recommended.

I think I'm gonna stick with the provari with the extended cap. It's in my price range and there's excellent reviews. So i seen a guy on youtube using 28 gauge tiger wire wrapped (7) times with a 3/32 screw driver, he got a reading of 1.9, if I set the provari to 3.0 would that be a nice setting for it? Or would that totally be a bad idea? I do realize it's dangerous to do this stuff without researching but that's kinda why I'm asking you guys haha. Also what do you mean by what kind of vaping am I interested in? Id pretty much just be using it 60% for fun (I love smoking hookah but can't on the run) and 40% to help me quit smoking cigarettes

You could set it higher than that if you wanted. It all depends on taste. I'm currently running a 1.5Ω coil at 4.1v on a ProVari, which is 11w, about medium I think for a ProVari - yet I have another set-up I can't run higher than 9w or the juice tastes weird.

ETA: Don't worry about "dangerous" with a ProVari. It will shut itself off if it senses you don't know what you're doing. ProVari ~ It won't let you hurt yourself.

Okay so I've got some questions, I'm reading that dual coil builds are crap unless you have a mod that uses a battery larger than 3.7v which I'm sure isn't true but I'm still wondering whether I should do a dual coil build or a single coil? What is the best build for an rta (billow) on a provari, If you're looking for flavor and clouds? If using tiger wire and cotton what gauge should I use, what size and how many wraps should it be in order to get a 2 ohm reading (it's a four post deck)? I understand that 2ohms is what I should be shooting for with a single coil for max flavor and vapor production? So if I get my coil to 2 ohms what should I set my provari to? Basically looking for the best setup with the billow and provari :) will be posting pictures of my build and my vape!

Or if I'm looking for clouds and flavor should I just totally go to a different mod

The ProVari should be able to cover some cloud chasing and would of course handle your flavor build. Now here I can only give my opinion, but I have never vaped below 0.5ohm and been able to taste anything but fried juice. If you want flavor stick with a single 28G Kanthal coil build between 1.0 and 2.0. :2c:

Are you off your medicine son?

You want to purchase a Billow RTA? Why? Not that i Dislike it I am actually interested in it or the Lemo. But with Rip's review I am leaning toward the Lemo.

As far as the provari goes I have no opinion. They have legions of followers and a great reputation. The question is what do you want.

Clouds and flavor from this combo? Depends everyone's definition of this is different. If you have been using an ego with a basic clearo this setup is going to be AWESOME!

I personally am mostly sub ohm on a sigelei and a dripper. I personally love the flavor and warmth I get at .4 dual coils but the poster above hates it so you see what I mean.
