Noob - refill or replace?

I too have gone the 510 route as a newb. I was in Orlando with a buddy for the weekend (getting away from the wife and kids for a few days does wonders) and happened upon the SmokeAnywhere booth. I am a complete addict when it comes to researching stuff, but this was an impulse buy. Quite honestly I payed too much, but it was great to at least get me interested in the world of e-cigs. It works ok, but with my pack a day habit of "analog" (still makes me laugh) cigarettes, I need it to be better than what that e-cig can deliver.

So 2 days ago I ordered a WHACK of stuff from TotallyWicked. I looked around at all the vendors and picked one that may not be the cheapest, but always seems to have stock, and they carry lots of stuff. I like to stick to one vendor for most things so they seemed like the right move for me. It should be here tomorrow...I ordered

1 Titan Starter Pack in Black
1 PCC full kit with all the adapters and extra Titan
1 Pack of 5 Atomizers
1 Pack of 5 Manual batteries
2 30ml Juices (marlboro and menthol) in 24mg strength
1 Carry Tin in Red
1 USB Pass Through
Bunch of Dropper Bottles
Whack of Refillable Blanks

So, lets hope it works for me.... lol. I am looking for a consistent easy to use experience that will AID me in my quest to quit smoking. I am 39 on July 4th, and my father died when he was 42, so I am starting to have "come to jesus" moments when I look at my kids. The one issue I have is that my wife smokes and it will be hard with analogs around the house. I even went so far as to ask my doctor her thoughts on the matter, and she says that its awesome as long as I ween myself off of nicotine slowly.

Wish me luck, and I wish luck to all those using this as more than a cool past time, but a lifesaving device.

Got my 510 yesterday...it is super sweet. I am also interested in a Djarum tasting juice. If you find a close one let me know. And BTW Marlboro is not that good. I cant wait for my JC Juice to come in. And as far as the refill or replace. I ordered 3 packs of carts so I would have about 20 I could refill at one time. Then I can just swap the carts out as needed. I used 1 cart yesterday but it was only a half day. So I figure 20 carts will last me close to a week until I need to refill. Unfortunately I wish I had ordered low or no. I'm getting a buzz off the low ones. It reminds me of the first time I ever smoke a Clove.

5 carts will last you for months IF you learn to restuff them. You'll want to learn that anyway, so swear to yourself that you will be a quick learner, and enjoy! If you are a little on the slow side, just buy 5 extra blank carts to use while you're learning.

Why bother to restuff cartidges? Refill with juice, of course! But (for the DSE801 at least), I can get blank cartidges for only 50 cents each. Restuffing them doesn't seem worth the effort.

I'm investing my effort in mixing my own juice - now that saves money!

Hi Don:

Welcome to ECF. Let us know how that 801 compares to what you were using before. Bet it is a world of difference for you (for the better). Consider picking up a usb to use at your computer if you like the 801 and decide to stay with it. It will cut down your cost of batteries.

The next step up would be a Dura-C, 510, Titan, etc... (A manual battery of course.) The best personal vaporizer in my opinion for a beginner. I believe it to be the best performer of the tube type vaporizers. I really like the Dura-C and use it alot for special occasions (going out).

But my favorite is the manual battery Screwdriver. Quality, battery life, cost of maintaining, and of course it is a handcrafted piece of art. Not something throw away from China.

Sometime soon you may just find yourself with a manual battery too.

I love my new 801 ... and the ease of refilling cartridges with all kinds of juices (which I'm starting to mix myself). The KR808D-1 has become my backup (e.g., when the battery dies on my 801 and my second bat hasn't finished recharging).

I know that so many people are loving the 510 (and I do lust after that PCC), but I think I'll skip that step and (eventually) go right to one of the fat ones (I'm leaning toward the Prodigy).

Not sure the passthrough is applicable for me. My wife has become sensitive to the oder of my vaping, so I now have to vape outside.

KR808D-1.

Now that the carts have gotten cheaper, I don't even know that I'm going to bother refilling them anymore. At just over $1 a cart, you get a fresh atomizer every time, and none of the fuss of the other things.
Since I got mine, my 801 and 901 have been gathering dust. It's one you can use without thinking about it.

So it is easy to drop juice into the 510 from a dropper bottle. I would guess this can be messy until you get really good at it.

Yes, you can drip on to the atomizer bridge/wick or you can drop some on the cart filler (don't let it pool up tho). Before dripping, I would make sure that the 510 batteries you have are sealed, so you don't kill the battery.

Also, only put a drop or two directly on the atty - you don't want it to flood.

Nope, you don't need to get really good at it.
It is super-duper easy as long as you have a dropper, and my juice came with one.

Edit: Actually, it depends what you are dripping on
Edit: Dripping in the cartridge to top it off is a no-brainer
Edit: Dripping on the atomizer is just a bit trickier

You will gather that I'm "sparing no expense." Not for everyone

Now don't hide your light under a bushel. *Where* can you get cartomizers for just over $1? The cheapest I found was from Mist-Stix.com: $6 for five (using ECF discount code. That's $1.20 each (which, I suppose, is "just over $1").

I was going through about 3 carts per day - a bit more expensive than I'd like.

Interesting. We went in opposite directions. I started w/ the KR. Now I'm cherishing my 801 (and can't wait to receive my Puresmoker passthrough.

I do agree with you about the convenience, especially when out and about. FYI: Drew at NHaler.com has just started offering a PCC for the KR808D-1.
