hmmm. so the smoktek's i got coming can be used by itself? even with the hole/s??? wow. i did not know that. i thought that was a 'different' pv setup.

Unless you're lame, like me. I rinse the tanks out under the faucet when I change cartos. And maybe sometimes when I see a couple of cat hairs floating in it...
How do you mean by itself? No, you can't use a carto with a hole punched in it.
Un unpunched carto can be used by itself.

Not really; they aren't designed for that. What I posted was to explain cartos in general. I should go edit that out. In a pinch you can use a punched carto out of a tank, but you have to block the holes and it's very messy.

Why would cat hairs bother you?
They don't. That's why I said only sometimes, which really kind of means never.
