Hello. I have been smoking for 25+ years at about 1-2 packs a day. Have tried several times to quit with no success. I enjoy smoking. I like the hit and the rush. I am used to my hands being busy and my mouth doing something. Like you I don't like the negative stigma associated with smoking, the smell or the health consequences. I just ordered the eGo deluxe kit from cigparts.com as a way to get started. I don't think it will be the end result in satisfaction for me, but seemed a good place to start for the money.

I am very happy to find this place. A great number of questions have already been answered. I am finding that this is a whole new world with many variables to consider as opposed to what brand of smokes do I like. My personal style of smoking is two hands busy doing something else with a smoke hanging out of my mouth. With that said I have tried some of the auto cigs and found them very frustrating. I also have tried a number of manual cigs and found them very much more like the real thing.

I have no intentions of dropping the smoking habit, just changing the way I do it. vaping sounds like the ticket, once I get my style and equipment down. From looking at this site, it seems like it could be an interesting journey.

Thanks ahead of time for the questions I will have and thanks for all the questions you have already answered. i am looking forward to vaping. Can't wait for my kit arrive. Any advice for a noob is greatly appreciated.

Welcome. I am new too. I just came up with my rig after trying out the disposable type from Greensmoke (waste of money IMO). I went with a Push button Battery, with a tank. There are tons of different Makes and Models to choose from. The guys here at the ECF are pros who are willing to help out with any questions you may have.

Good Luck, sir!

Welcome!

Don't be surprised if you change your thoughts on quitting once you have a good system like your eGo in your hands. I felt the same way when I first tried an e-cig. I did it because a couple times a year I go to conventions with my husband for his work and am stuck in no-smoking hotels. I thought that a cheap e-cig would be the answer.

It was, and it was the answer to a whole lot more. I upgraded from that first cheapie fast (congrats on starting with a good unit right off the bat) and after vaping that new e-cig, I never had another analog cigarette again.

Yea, I didn't think I would quit cigs immediately, but within 3 puffs on a 510 I knew my cigs were trash. The eGo is a good choice, though I still like the small 510 when on the go. Though it is about the same size as a cigarette it weighs a lot more. So no ecig hanging out of your mouth. That's one thing I miss a little. Ecigs are probably more analogous to pipe smoking. I remember years ago when my dad smoked pipes, he was always fiddling with them to get just the right smoke. Vapers do that a lot too.

You don't even have to try quitting once you start vaping. That first week you'll still crave the feeling of paper on your lips and the scent of your zippo lighter fluid, but after a week the smell will almost sicken you at just the thought of a cigarette.

Welcome to ECF, and I'm sure you'll love it.

One thing though, I saw you mention you like to just have an analog dangling from your lips while your hands are busy. Unfortunately, there are not many e-cig options that that will work very well for. At least, not good options. But outside of that almost everything else will remain the same.

You know, if you do find that for all other intents and purposes the e-cig is plenty for you, but miss having the cigarette dangling from your lips while you work, you could have an unlit cigarette for that, and then when you want a drag, grab the e-cig. LOL Just a thought. Although after awhile you may forget all about that hassle.

Also, as a writer, I have always done the same thing with cigarettes. My KR808D-1 (Nebula) is fine, cigarette sized (sort of) although heavier. I actually have it in my mouth right now as I type (with both hands :p ) lol, and it works fine. I never really tried that before, but you made me think of it. I just put it in my mouth a little further than I would just to take a drag on it.

Welcome to ECF tsbman. I took a quick look at the site you had mentioned and it looks like they are very overpriced. If it's possible for you to cancel that order I'd try and do that. I say this as I am very sure you can do much better as far as hardware and cost. We generally try to buy from vendors that are registered here as they offer good products at very fair prices and their customer relations have to stay at a high level or they will not be allowed to stay on ECF.

I'm going to suggest a few kits that might be what you need to get you started on your journey. They are well received here at ECF and the vendors that sell them will stand behind them 110%. As with any kit that you end up buying, don't forget to buy juice! Good luck to you! :)

This is so true.

Went from a pack a day down to maybe 3 a day immediately, without trying. A week later I couldn't even get through half a cig without getting nauseated and grimacing from the taste/smell. After that, I'd still crave one now and then, but the thought of actually smoking one just brought back that feeling. Then, even that craving went away.

Edit:

I still have a couple of unopened packs lying around. I'll probably hand them off to my friends who still smoke eventually.

When you start though, I'd recommend keeping a pack or two around. The craving isn't as strong if you know you could have one whenever you like. Without them at hand, it just makes you feel "trapped" and you can't stop thinking about it. Besides, if nothing else, you'll have a souvenir from your smoking days later.

Hi Tsb, welcome to the ECF. I had that same fixation at first with the unlit analog. I decided to give ecigs a try, went and bought an overpriced uderperforming kit and stopped at the grocery store and picked up a bag of lollipops to go with it. After the first week of no analogs I found that the bag of lollipops was still about two thirds full and as long as I had my PV I could deal without having an analog just dangling.... go figure. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.
