I am hoping someone can help me out here. I just started vaping about 5 months ago to quit smoking after 25 years. I started out with a cheapy from a local smoke shop, then upgraded to a joyetech ego ctwist. The battery life on that absolutely sucked so I decided to upgrade and got the smoktech vmax. It was the device that several of the local vaping shops recommended. The problem I am having is that I have tried several different clearomizers, atty's and carto's and no matter what I have tried I get a very hot th and burnt taste. I should probably mention that I have the vmax on the lowest setting of 3. If I turn it up any higher than that the heat and taste only get worse!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a million things
pg/vg ratio-high pg tends to wick better so you don't get so much dry hit. Alot swear by 80/20 pg/vg to avoid this. I just keep my clearo full.
Could be an idiot making your juices, and the vendor passes it on anyway and blames the "new" mixologist (you know who you are)
The wick in your attie/clearo/carto could be burned. This happens (sometimes) when you cycle the battery to avoid auto shut off.(there's an art to this, it feels so right but will junk your batteries/juice/atties if your not careful.sometimes even if you are)
I know I'm missing 999,997 other reasons

Honestly you should have no problems with setting that device to 3.7 volts which is standard voltage in most devices. Have you tried using a Vivi Nova tank or a Kanger T3 or using a boge 3.0ohm carto at 4.5-4.8 volts. If you are still having trouble maybe it could be the juice. What is the juice and who makes it that you are using? I can't remember if that device uses pulse width modulation which causes the device to hit harder that what it is set at. But that might be something to check into. I hope my little bit of information helps even a little. I wish you and yours a Happy New Year!

I have actually tried using the vivi nova tank on the vmax because it worked great on the ego ctwist. with the atty that came in the tank it was great but as soon as i put it on vmax it was burnt. I tried using one of the higher res atty's that came with it which was rated at 2.8 ohm i believe and the burnt taste was actually worse. I guess what im really wondering is if i should try mid/high res cartos? Also, the vmax that I have is v2.
