Hello Everyone!

I'm getting close to eight months into vaping, and I'm finally getting around to the whole DIY e-liquid world. To start things off I had a question about the Humco Glycerine sold at Wal-Mart. After doing some research, I've read that the Humco Glycerine should be used and treated as VG. So my question here is, would you recommend using the Humco Glycerine or simply just purchasing Food Grade VG from a vendor?

My next question is the use of distilled water. I already know that distilled water is used for thinning the e-liquid. I vape a primarily VG juice (Mostly a 70/30 VG/PG blend, sometimes a 50/50 blend), so I assume I would be using distilled water to thin out the e-liquid to the consistency I prefer. Yet, I was wondering if distilled water could replace the PG in the blend. Would this mute flavor and decrease vapor production? Or would I be better off finding the best combination of PG, VG, and distilled water through trial and error.

I am by no means an expert, and also aware that mixing my own e-liquid could use a lot of practice. So I am trying to do all the research I can before I actually dive in.

Thanks ahead of time for all advice and support!

I vape my juice at 70/30 VG/PG. With that being over 20% PG, would I not even consider using DW at all?

I make a base of 45/45/10 vg/pg/dw that i discovered from the Inawera thread. The water helps with hydration of your mouth since PG tends to dry it out.

People have used the walmart VG for liquid. I never tried it so I don't know what the quality is like. I use the Essentials Depot VG and PG on Amazon.

You can't replace PG with water. Water doesn't vaporize as well as PG. You can put a little in but too much and it will basically kill your vapor production

Not much luck here with DW or Saline, as it mutes flavor to much IMO.
PG Flavoring being used will vary from 5-20%.
So you may need some plain PG to mix in, although the nicotine can be bought in VG or PG, but PG (stores better).

Got a gallon of PG at Tractor Supply for around 22 bucks, some have it, some don't.

If you want a NON GMO VG, then buy it from here: 100% Pure USP Vegetable Glycerin: Food Grade VG Liquid | Buy Vegetable Glycerin
It's made from Coconuts...

Most of the VG in the US is being made from "Genetically Modified Soy".

You can start at 20/80VG and see if it wicks OK on your equipment.
But 50/50 is a good "all around" mix, and will wick better in most instances.

Thanks for all the input. I'm still wondering whether to purchase my vg from Wal-Mart and opt for the Humco or purchase it off Amazon. Has anyone had experience with the Humco Glycerine?

Do a search for humco or walmart glycerine. I know many people have used it and posted about it on this board in the past.

Here's one:

EDIT: RonJS above me has a good review also

I use the Humco from Walmart and have no problems with it. If I could, I would buy it from Essentials Depot, but I am on a strict budget and can't buy that much at a time. I normally grab a couple bottles from Walmart every two weeks. I know it is more in the long run, but I am slowly building my stash up.

1 gallon from ES- $18.12 + $18.50 shipping= $36.62 / 3785.4 ml = ~.01 per ml
6 oz Humco WM- $3.88 + .27 tax= $4.15 / 177 ml= ~.02/ml

These figures are of course for my area with my shipping and taxes.
